A funny thing happened to the Democrats' same-sex marriage bill on its trip from the House to the Senate: people actually started reading the legislation. When they did, an uncomfortable reality set in -- nothing in the text explicitly outlawed polygamy. It was just a "drafting error," the more liberal senators claimed. But it wasn't a "drafting error" when a New York judge recognized polyamory late last month. How much longer until the party who wants "love" to be the legal basis for every relationship follows suit?
The decision by trial court judge Karen May Bacdayan should have been frontpage news. After all, she essentially gave New York's blessing to polyamorous unions in her September decision, declaring that "... the problem with [previous same-sex marriage rulings] is that they recognize only two-person relationships."
At the heart of the case was an apartment dispute, triggered when a tenant, who had a gay spouse living elsewhere, died. The landlords argued that the man he did live with didn't have a right to renew the lease because the two weren't married. When the roommate objected, arguing that he was a "non-traditional family member," the judge decided to hold a hearing on whether all three were romantically involved…

Can I marry my dog? I need extra deductions
Just my opinion but polygamy would seem to be more legal, moral … than same sex marriage.
We recognize serial polygamy now in this country and a good number of Americans practice serial polygamy.
Hi.
I’m not every man, just one guy who can’t handle more than one mother in law.

BEASTIALITY coming up!!
Heck, you knew this was coming! Its not a real factor. You can marry as many partners as you want now—just one at a time. Just ask Trump. Now you can have more. Many famous people live in threesome arrangements in secret. Now its open. Next will be Legalization of Prostitution (and taxing it). The oldest profession can be made formal. Sex worker unions are coming.
The gay marriage bill circulating in congress (that many Republicans support) mandates that if a single state allows a certain type of union, then all states must recognize that union.
I really liked the HBO series Big Love about a Mormon family, a husband and his three wives, coping with the problems of their illegal polygamous marriage. One episode dealt with gay marriage which the prophet seized upon to justify polygamy. If the same sex can marry why are other alternate marriages illegal? It is totally logical.
At the time, I thought it would be fun to marry three strippers of prime earning years. Unfortunately I’m too old for that now. Maybe I could make one happy.
No, actually the time has arrived to kick you off the bench but that won’t happen because you are in a cesspool state.
“because if it is one thing husbands need are more wives.”
It would be a financial disaster if laws regarding no-fault divorce, alimony, & child support weren’t changed.
I can just imagine all the “coming & going” out of the harem. The guy better have a large bank account.
Anybody that did NOT see this coming is an idiot.
“he put it before the people to vote”
No need in her obvious way of using the law. The judges have come to the conclusion that they can dictate law from the bench thus setting themselves up as jury and executioner also.
A perfect example was Roe. For over 50 years the courts at the federal level became the benchmark of the law and was written in a way so it could be maneuvered into any ruling that pertained to abortion whether it was a federal concern or not since the Constitution didn’t cover it and it should have been in the hands of the states and thus the people.
I can’t even start to remember the amount of court rulings that over ruled voted in laws or determinations by the people of the states that started at low levels and jumped into the federal levels at warp speed so some judge could change the decision of the hired government or the vote of the people. And don’t think the judges aren’t aware of this and apply their own personal desires on these so called decisions.
So what governs us? Is it the courts’ behind the scenes or the previously advertise vote of the people? Since the courts have the last say between elections, that answer is simple.

legalize multiple men for one woman then we’ll talk..../s/
“legalize multiple men for one woman then we’ll talk..../s/”
At my class reunion a girl introduced us to her 2 co-husbands.
(she is an atty in San Fran if I remember)
A friend once commented that the penalty for bigamy is two wives.

From 2003:
Referring to an upcoming decision from the U.S. Supreme Court on the constitutionality of antigay sodomy laws, Santorum told the Associated Press, “If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual [gay] sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything.”
He then added, “All of those things are antithetical to a healthy, stable, traditional family. And that’s sort of where we are in today’s world, unfortunately.”
When can I marry an inanimate object? The perfect wife should never talk back.
Thank goodness I haven’t committed bigamy. I’ve never cheated either. 42 years of fidelity.
They’ll be marrying their cats, daughters, and lawnmowers in 5,...4,...3,...
The worst is, their medical insurance will be extended to all.
And you and I will be made to pay for it.
