A man who may have been attempting to ride a Jet Ski from Pompano Beach to the Bahamas is missing, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities are trying to find the 52-year-old man, Charles Walker, who was last seen about 5 p.m. Friday in Pompano Beach in the 3200 block of Northeast 16th Street, a community near the beach just north of the 14th Street bridge.
Walker was attempting to ride a Jet Ski personal watercraft to Bimini in the Bahamas, his family told the sheriff’s detectives.

It's about 60 miles. I suppose it could be done on one of the big jet skis in relatively calm waters. People take speed boats from FL to have dinner in Bimini. Probably takes longer navigating the intercoastals than the actual trip.

I have no idea what the range of a jet ski is. I have one and I would guess about 120 miles max. One of my rules is to never ride alone. Nothing more embarrassing than being stuck with a broken rig and having to wave down strangers for a tow. Best to just have a buddy pull you home.
Being stuck in the open sea with no one around would be terrifying.
