The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
If you have specific question about a plant/problem you are having, please remember to state the Growing Zone where you are located.
This thread is a non-political respite. No matter what, you won’t be flamed, and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table Recipes, Preserving, Good Living - there is no telling where it will go - and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! Send a Private Message to Diana in Wisconsin if you'd like to be added to our New & Improved Ping List.
NOTE: This is a once a week Ping List. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest to Gardeners are welcomed any time!
“Which peppers did you grow?”

...and two yellow and two purple bells, just for fun and more colorful Stir-fries and Fajitas.
It was pretty much a, ‘use up pepper seed on hand’ season. :)
From Baker Creek: Annual. A pollinator friendly favorite from the Victorian era. This unsung hero of the classic cottage garden boasts cerise pink draping, rope-like flowers. Plants mature over 6' tall. We are happy to offer this rare and colorful heirloom from the gardens of yesteryear. A nice cut or dried flower.
Just using google images, yes I get a couple of pics for Constoluto Genovese but a few more called Constoluto Florentino. This website has a good pic and it looks really close. We saved some seeds at any rate for next year.
Thanks for steering me in this direction.

Looks good, not matter what it is! :)
I knew it was ‘Constoluto’ something, no matter what! Good sleuthing! Hope it produces true for you. :)
Here’s a video of the method I use for growing salad greens well into Fall in my unheated greenhouse.

She gabs a lot! The demo begins about 6 minutes in.
I just got a fine for weeds in my garden. It’s a closed in backyard that’s difficult to see without effort. This is what the police are busy doing.
Mmmmmm. Love peppers. I had a continuous harvest since the first one this year and the rest will come in in a few days.
Well, that sucks! Are you governed by a Home Owners Association?
No it’s the town doing it. Once I pull everything up I’m going to cover the beds with weed barrier. Let’s see them find weeds then.
Peppers. I am getting to the point where peppers need to grow quickly and in quantity or I won’t grow them. Shishitos are 60 days; and Shervna Chuska are 85. Maybe I should try king of the north or Beaver Dam? The Atris looks like a good pepper!
‘Beaver Dam’ is a good pepper! The ones I listed earlier are all good for me, but yes, they are later in the season up here.
‘King of the North’ is always a good choice. Two others you should consider are ‘Margaret’s’ and ‘Carmen.’ Both from Jung’s.
Jalapenos grow just fine for me up here, too.
New thread starting for the week in a little while. Coffee & dog walking, first; it’s a beautiful Fall morning! :)
*Yoo hoo
We’re on it! Thanks!
