EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.
From FaceBook:
Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more
Thanks.
We’ve lost cats, before, and this one was the hardest to take.
It wouldn’t have been nearly so bad, but the guy was just barely middle-aged and this could have been prevented if we’d have known he was afflicted. Could have had him on an anticoagulant or low-dose aspirin & he’d have probably had 4-7 more years left in him.
Literally a cryin’ shame.
TRUE STORY
Went all day eating very little. Busy. Had my morning coffee, but that was about it. Come evening I’m pretty hungry, so I get some spaghetti going, and while it’s in process go to take out some trash.
On the counter is an empty canister that had those peanut-filled pretzel snacks in it; all gone but some crumbs in the bottom; maybe a teaspoon full. I happen to like pretzel crumbs, so I ate them.
A half hour later sitting down to feast on my spaghetti, I feel the onset of a wave of nausea.
Ten minutes later I’m 100% FINE, got back to my dinner, and enjoyed it completely with no further drama.
In the middle, I recalled something about using salt water to induce vomiting, and the whole picture came together. Suffice to say I won’t be so gung ho about salty pretzel crumbs in the future. At least, not on an empty stomach.
LESSON LEARNED
They are very nice sprinkled on avocado toast...
I get woozy swimming in the ocean for the same reason: the salt.
It’s a good day, Sunshine...
Er — OK, so no sunshine; more rain-ish stuff, maybe an electric light show this afternoon, and plenty of near surface atmospheric relocation to put everyone’s roofing to the test.
But I DID get a THREE!
I guessed this 5-letter word in 3/6 tries.

Good morning. Happy Twosday!
It’s slightly warmer today but we have a low of 16 fs coming. Then a warming trend with some rain.
The Princess’ digestive system seems to have recovered. We haven’t been giving her salt.
Four today.

Sweet little face!
Good morning. I hope you had a good night with no cats!
The Other Folks will be headed for the airport soon, and they haven’t even told me what day they’ll be back, except that as soon as they do, FS will be heading for Maryland.
I managed to get 12 hours of badly needed sleep last night, but because of all the activity of a laundry day plus, I woke up wishing I were someone else!
Anyway, I’m here and I’ll get started being me soon!
Happy Tuesday, Wordle Fans!
Some days are harder to figure out than others.
Here’s today’s try.

Good Morning!
Ugh, I certainly didn’t expect a 65-7 trouncing in the College Football Playoff National Championship... pretty much unwatchable except for Georgia fans... poor TCU was just way over matched on all fronts...
Lucky 3-spot on the Wordle front...

Good job, both of you!! Woo-hoo!
I heard at Cub Scouts last night that there was going to be sportball.
Yes, some of us were hoping for a very exciting (and close score) sportball game last night... made mucho preparations for it... had family members travel over to view it...
Needless to say, some of us were very disappointed...
Oh, well.
I find most sportball games to be as boring as watching someone else play marbles.
But then, I am that boring myself so — oh well.
Being a Ramblin’ Wreck I’ve learned never to count on things going badly for the Bulldogs.
And one year the Yellow Jackets actually got invited to a bowl game. I attended as a member of the band. I froze (those band uniforms are NOT worm) only to watch the Yellow Jackets get blown out.
Well, if anyone’s team did poorly, I’m sorry.
My marbles team is staying ahead of the game.
Excellent.
The one and only New York team - the Buffalo Bills - is in the playoffs. The faux New York team which actually plays in New Jersey - the “New York” Giants - is in the playoffs. The other faux New York team - the “New York” Jets - will have to wait for another year.
The Jets haven’t really been a force in the NFL since Willie “Joe” Namath so it’s no surprise.
