EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners

DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

From FaceBook:

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

Storing road items in the laundry room seems weird.

Not bad, thanks. I might have slept a little longer, but Jake patted at the bedroom door.

I hope you have a good rest!

Wind has got me awake. A few notably stronger gusts tonight than the previous storms in this sequence. In a bit of a lull, at the moment, but it’s supposedly going to storm all throughout the morning, then a dry afternoon until after midnight when it’s slated to begin the next round.

Wordle-wise...

“Hey Rocky! Watch me pull a rabbit outta my hat!”

I guessed this 5-letter word in 6/6 tries.

Be sure ‘n’ give your four-footed ones some extra attention; my eldest daughter’s big, black tabby, Hawkeye, had to be put down last night. He wasn’t quite 8 years old. Big guy had undiagnosed congestive heart disease, and a clot migrated to the aortic branch at his pelvis and painfully cut off blood supply to his legs and tail.

No cure.

Hawk was the “teddy bear” among the cats in the family, my daughter’s far-and-away favorite, and the one cat who was best buds with the thrice-jilted shelter cat, Sam, we adopted five years ago. I expect Sam’s going to be unsettled for weeks trying to adjust to the absence of his bestie.

Good morning. Happy Monday!

It got cold here again.

We tried giving the Princess some new treats that have squash in them. They have her system a “run” for the money. I had to put her out a few extra times yesterday. But she seems to be moving past it today.

Starting the week with a 5.

Sorry to hear about Hawkeye. It’s hard to lose a pet.

I’m very sorry to hear that. Coincidentally, my mother is having her old cat, Polly, put to sleep this afternoon. She has a combination of age-related health problems, including difficulty keeping food down, and Mom thinks it would be inhumane to subject her to another round of medical interventions when all she wants is to sleep in a basket of towels.

My son Vlad gets that way with squash, too. Also canteloupe.

Since we have no maintenance man handy with a key to the storage shed, and no manager on site (even when she is) there is no place for deliveries for replacement parts or anything else. So among the items stacked up are blinds of two sizes and floor tiles, as well as the speed bumps.

I’m REALLY glad I had the hot spot installed on this phone because it looks like I’ll be without a connection for a while. I called about it and they did a re-boot but it didn’t last, so I have to call again. I’ll probably have to go get a new router, and I’m sure they’ll charge me big time for it.

The nap may have been better unhad. Maybe I only felt worse because I got so hungry. The hypoglycemia kicked in. As soon as I have Second Breakfast, I’ll call the WiFi company back, because I’m afraid to watch TV on this laptop.

We lived in the Bay Area for three years and there was a stationary high over that area for the entire time. It resulted in water rationing, and I think one storm that put a dusting of snow on the foothills around Fremont-Newark.

So sorry to hear about Hawkeye. It’s always tough to put a critter down, because they are family members.

That’s way I feel when I pull a 6/6 out. A real heart-stopper, those things!

Unngh. It looks as if I’m getting a new router tomorrow. Twenty minutes online with a tech and he tells me what I already knew. Everything is disposable now, because they changed names, companies and equipment. Lucky me.
