Russia cuts off gas exports to Europe via Nord Stream indefinitely
CNN Business ^ | Uliana Pavlova and Anna Cooban

Posted on 09/03/2022 2:03:54 AM PDT by Cathi

Russia won’t immediately resume exports of natural gas to Europe through its Nord Stream 1 pipeline, worsening a shortage that threatens to tip the continent into an energy crisis this winter.

On Friday, Russian state energy giant Gazprom said it would not resume flows through the pipeline on Saturday as planned because it had detected an oil leak at its Portovaya compressor station. The pipeline has been shut since Wednesday for maintenance.

It didn’t give a timeline of when exports might resume.

“I don’t know what Putin is thinking, as for return to the Soviet boundaries is approximately zero.”

There’s still quite a few ‘stranded’ Russians, with Ukraine being the biggest bunch. And far more of these stranded Russians than there will be war casualties.

I do agree on Soviet boundaries, but then Putin never claimed that he wanted such - more like old Imperial Russia boundaries.

Still, like virtually every country in the West if you discount immigration - Putin will also have to deal with Demographic collapse.

The divide seems to be between those who agreed with Trump on Europe ending its trust in and dependency on Russia and the leftist anti-nuke, anti-coal, anti-energy crowd, and those who are pro-Russia and deeply oppose Trump and support the opposite of what he advised and what conservatives want for Europe and its energy and the fight against the anti-energy movements.

“Personally I’m far more concerned about WEF/globalists than Russia.”

That’s also how I see it. The Globalists, not Putin, just ELIMINATED gasoline cars for 30% of the United States, and if the election goes to the Democrats, that becomes 100% of the United States.

I find their obsession with Ukraine to be, how do you say, ‘suspicious’.

Actually, the problem is mostly in Europe and is not present uniformly over the globe

Europeans are Globalist but Asians and Pacific Rimmers and South Americans and Americans are not

“He (Perot) was (right), and so were those who voted for him.”

While I agree with the first part, it’s a tough call for me on the second part, which means helping to elected Clinton over Bush Sr. Difficult to tell, other than things would be far different in the country, and the world, if Bush Sr. won...maybe better, maybe not.

“I expect to see some protests that will be brutally crushed by their own governments as that is what fascists do.”

I agree, at least if Europe was still only populated by Europeans. But there are a lot of, how do you say, ‘exotic’, people there now and they spend themselves broke and risk their lives to live in hell-holes that are worse than the ones they left - and those people DO protest.

Nord Stream was Demented Joe’s Dream but all it did was finance Putin to make war on Ukraine and destroy the economy of the USA by killing the American Oil Industry.

How much do we import from China? How much of our manufacturing have we offshored over the last 30 years? Where does the US get its drugs from? And now its oil?

I’d say the US is about as globalist as you get. Trump was trying to reverse that and was succeeding.

Doubt mechanical issues is the reason. Frankly I’m sure Russia would do fine selling just to China. Russia will gladly put the screws to Europe at least for now.

I keep seeing people state this and I don’t get what this is based on. Putin/Russia is in the process of acquiring millions of new citizens. The polls on Russian federation are running at 75-77% in every region he is in control of except the Donbass republics where it is 91-92%.

There problem is going to be handling their “demographic” surge.

Interesting strategy if that is in fact theirs. Getting China hooked on Russian oil and gas is a great way to keep them in check, if they ever need to.

Historians still scratch their heads over the beginnings of WW1. I don’t know why. Europe was effectively packed with explosives and gasoline just waiting for some damn fool to do something stupid. What is going on in Ukraine today is just like that. In 100 years (if anybody is still around) future historians will be wondering at the grand stupidity of it all.

Because the EU, like the dems, want citizens to live like serfs. No driving, no comfy 75 degrees year round, no nice portion of meat with every meal.

Ignore first two results. The head of NATO admitted that they’ve been funding and arming Ukraine since 2013/2014.

It’s hard for me to see how the EU emerges from the current situation unscathed. I think it’s more likely that Europe once again gets destroyed.

There will probably be fighting on every continent as local powers scramble to ‘get their share.’ The administration sudden abandonment of the “One China” policy (while vaguely supporting the defense of Taiwan) defines the core of the struggle for Asia-Pacific. Taiwan will be the dueling ground.

The players leading up to that war are so all over the place. In the end it brought down the Austria-Hungarian and Ottoman empires. It also saw the height of the British empire and the emergence of the US.

It also destroyed a generation of the best and brightest young men Europe and UK had.

Just as Trump told Merkle it would happen. We aren’t the only nation run by idiots. Prob is, with most of the world idiot-controlled, THEIR war is going to kill us all!

People all over Europe are protesting right now over high fuel prices and farming issues. Our media won’t show it though.
