Russia won’t immediately resume exports of natural gas to Europe through its Nord Stream 1 pipeline, worsening a shortage that threatens to tip the continent into an energy crisis this winter.
On Friday, Russian state energy giant Gazprom said it would not resume flows through the pipeline on Saturday as planned because it had detected an oil leak at its Portovaya compressor station. The pipeline has been shut since Wednesday for maintenance.
It didn’t give a timeline of when exports might resume.

Europe needs a revitalized Marshal Plan focusing on oil and especially natural gas from the United States. Unfortunately that would require a president with a functional brain attached to a fortified backbone.
“Sounds like an excuse for EU to go to war.”
After all, this incredible “Kherson counter offensive plan” that resulted in 800,000 Ukrainian casualties (300,000 killed; 500,000 wounded) in just 3 days was designed by the renowned Mi-6 themselves.
Sorry, I stuck additional zeros in those figures (too early for me...:-)
8,000 Ukrainian casualties (3,000 dead; 5,000 wounded.)
I had just posted the overall war dead figures from a Ukrainian General (hundreds of thousands) and stuck those hundred of thousands figures in this post, too.
Sorry.
Sean Davis [The Federalist]:
In one of the dumbest geopolitical moves in history, Europe outsourced its energy industry to Russia, laughed at everyone who said that was moronic, and then proceeded to wage a proxy war against the country that now has a monopoly on the continent’s gas and electricity. What did you idiots think was going to happen? My word.

Russian energy giant Gazprom says it can’t resume the supply of natural gas through a key pipeline to Germany because of technical problems. German officials have called Russia’s previous reductions through Nord Stream 1 a political power play.
Europe does not have the capacity to go to war against Russia. That’s a delusion.
More Ukrainian soldiers have been KIA than Britain has in its active duty army. NATO nations have stripped the shelves to send ordnance to Ukraine, and will take years just to build back their stocks.
China is close to 90% energy independent right now. India has really tamped up energy imports from Russia since the war started. India is also looking to become energy independent between 2040 to 2050 (knock on wood). For the future of Russian energy exports, there is a question of how much of a market there is, where it is, and for how long any highs will last. Without stable exports and revenues, Russia can not reliably fund wars of convenience with it neighbors. The other matter is transportation. Pipelines from Russia to Europe after they are built are a easier to ship gas and profitable faster than oil tankers than to India or China.
So long term, it will be more complicated for Russia to use energy revenues to fund wars. Russia has had around 30 border conflicts since the USSR collapse, many in the Caucasus and Southern Europe. They can't get away with that with impunity like they used to anymore now.
Is that a Little better? Its way too late for me and I'm using the slpel checekr way to much right now. :)
I agree. However leaders are stupid.
Nukes next.
Population elimination.
That’s much better. :)
Russia should seek peace and economic prosperity.
When your demographics are currently heading towards doom, sending more to die isn’t very wise.
I don’t know what Putin is thinking, as for return to the Soviet boundaries is approximately zero.
Can’t take anyone seriously when they act like the typical leftist and throw up the “cause du jour” on their profiles and signatures.
I feel bad for the average Uke citizen, but that country has been a tool of the WEF and all the evil west commies for a long time. They also excel at killing their own people. Really worth supporting isn’t it?
This whole thing is a cluster-f.
Globalist elites and Putin are having a “who is bigger” contest, and it hurts their people while they feel nothing.
Personally I’m far more concerned about WEF/globalists than Russia.
He was, and so were those who voted for him.
China and India may be the wild cards in all this. If they bump up imports of Russian energy the ruskies may not get hurt at all.
One more time.
Much of the ordinance was sold to the highest bidder since Ukraine is the most corrupt country in the world aside from China.
Maybe the muzzies that took over the UK can provide some solutions to the energy problems, more prayer rugs could solve the problem.
I think a lot of people are not aware that India, China and other countries (even Saudi Arabia) are buying extra energy resources from Russia at a discount in order to sell to others at a markup who can’t buy directly from Russia because of the sanctions.
Europeans are delusional and they are going to pay for those delusions for a long time.
It’s okay, wind and solar will save them...
The craziest part, the French are the smartest energy-wise.
An important point has been raised here, why does the EU not pursue the high degree of probability that there may be enormous quantities of natural gas on the European continent?
Look what was found in North America when the process of fracking revealed a HUGE reservoir of natural gas locked in rock strata, and helped to lead to our one-time energy independence. The same kind of miracle could lead to a vast reduction in reliance on foreign sources of energy for most if not all of the European countries. While not much in the way of oil wells has ever been developed, fracking could also release enormous quantities of petroleum.
It just takes investment of money, and Europeans are already squandering a lot of cash on now unreliable sources.
Germany has been researching the production of clean coal for at least the last couple of centuries, isn’t it about time to apply these lessons in the conversion of coal to clean energy. The first thing to do, of course, is to remove the designation of “pollutant” from carbon dioxide, which is after all, a most essential plant food, and the true basis of all life on earth. Without carbon dioxide, sunshine and the magic of photosynthesis, there never would have been the vast quantities of free oxygen (an extremely corrosive element, it might be added) in our atmosphere.
It will be very interesting to see how the general population of Western Europe reacts to the coming shortages (energy, food, etc.) this winter. I expect to see some protests that will be brutally crushed by their own governments as that is what fascists do. Unfortunately, the general population will probably meekly suffer and die just like all the other poor fools who embrace marxism/communism/socialism/progressivism/etc. Of course, the elite will suffer none of the negative consequences for their actions because they control the flow of all the necessities for life. Human nature never changes.
