Former Arkansas State Senator Jon Woods was the first elected official in the state to endorse President Trump in 2016.
Two years later U.S. District Judge Timothy L. Brooks of the Western District of Arkansas sentenced Woods to serve 18 years in federal prison, in addition to three years of supervised release and ordered Woods to pay $1.6 million in restitution.
Yesterday, the lead FBI Agent in his case plead guilty to destroying exculpatory evidence that could have proven Woods’ innocence.
“In a plea deal filed Wednesday, a former FBI agent pleaded guilty to paying a business to “wipe” his computer to make the hard drive unavailable for forensic examination.
According to court documents, former agent Robert Cessario was charged with “corrupt destruction of record in an official proceeding” in connection to the corruption trial of former state Sen. Jon Woods of Springdale.
In the plea deal, Cessario stated: “I erased the contents of the computer hard knowing that the court has ordered that the computer be submitted for a forensic examination. I did so with the intention of making the contents of the computer’s hard unavailable for forensic examination. At the time, I knew that the contents of the hard drive were relevant to an official proceeding, that is, Cause No. 5:17-CR-50010, United States v. Woods et al. I corruptly performed and had performed, the erasures with intent to impair the integrity and availability of the computer hard drive and its contents for use in that official proceeding.”

The Court has known about the illegal destruction of evidence the entire time. Woods’ appeal to the 8th Circuit of Appeals before appellate judges Jane Kelly, an Obama appointee, Michael J. Melloy, a Bush Sr. appointee, and Jonathan A. Kobes, a Trump appointee, case# 18-3057

The only thing that surprises me is that the FBI guy confessed. I’ve almost given up hope that justice is possible anymore.
Okay Hannity, what do you say about this? I’d say there MIGHT be 3 percent of the agents that are trustworthy, but that is probably a stretch.
In a lawful society, destroying evidence which would prove innocence would be enough for an ethical judge to order the release of the person convicted, or at least, order a retrial and let the person out on his own recognizance. Dirty cops, prosecutors, prison officials, and judges. Cool Hand Luke would not be surprised a bit.
Going to the link - that is terrible what they did (and are doing) to Jon Woods.
Well, to be fair, the link said that two FBI agents turned in the crooked FBI liar (and framer). But I hear you, the two were probably among the three percent of the good guys.
The fbi agent should replace the innocent senator in prison, and pay the fine too. The innocent senator should then be exonerated and given a letter of apology from the court and the disgraced fbi agent.
Ditto
At the very minimum.
It won’t happen because the corrupt DOJ and FBI are the source and font of corrupt FBI agents. They are selected based upon their hatred of “patriots”.
I think the purpose of the 2nd impeachment was to prevent Trump from issuing pardons the Swamp did not like. I figure Trump was told point blank by Mitch that if he pardoned certain people Mitch would vote to convict along with the rest of his rotten crew. This would have prevented Trump from running again.

Time to release Woods from prison now that an FBI agent has admitted he set him up.
That SOB should be hanged. I won’t say what should happen to the corrupt judges that continue to persecute an innocent man.
AFAIC, former agent Robert Cessario, needs the same punishment Michael Hayden, former director of the CIA said that former President Trump needs - Execution. For trying to facilitate the removal of a sitting US President.
That’s some kind of sinister person - purposefully insuring an innocent’s wrongful arrest and incarceration.
But, but, but, 99.999999!🤔
What was his sentence?
Four hours of “community service” or a virtual ankle bracelet?
Did he lose his job?
Did he lose his pension?
Did he lose any of his benefits and perks?
