A major risk factor for diabetes, insulin resistance occurs when the cells of the body do not respond to insulin and cannot make use of the glucose (sugar) in the blood stream. The condition is known to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and atherosclerosis.
George King, MD, identified a pathway in which the cells lining the blood vessels—called endothelial cells—drive the body's metabolism. In a reversal of scientific dogma, the findings suggest that vascular dysfunction may itself be the cause of undesirable metabolic changes that can lead to diabetes, not an effect as previously thought.
In addition to being linked to blood vessel abnormalities, diabetes is also associated with an undesirable decrease in the body's store of brown fat, also called brown adipose tissue. Unlike white fat which primarily stores energy, brown fat burns energy, maintains body temperature and regulates body weight and metabolism.
The team's investigation revealed that insulin signals endothelial cells in the blood vessels to produce nitrous oxide, which in turn triggers the production of brown fat cells. In the context of insulin resistance, endothelial cells produced less nitrous oxide—a decrease known to raise cardiovascular risk—leading to a drop in brown fat production. Because brown fat plays such an integral role in regulating the body's weight and metabolism, smaller brown fat stores could be a risk factor for, not a symptom of, diabetes.
Said King: "We think blood vessels and endothelial cells play an important role not just in regulating brown fat, but also in regulating whole body's metabolism. These endothelial cells are a key factor in regulating weight and developing diabetes and, as other labs have shown, blood vessels appear to be a major regulator of brain function as well. Intervening at the level of endothelial cells could have a major impact on many diseases."

I need knee replacement and I need to get my A1c at 7 or below and get my weight down....
I've given up candy in the last 3 months and now for about 3 weeks I've had no bread/potato/pasta/rice/fruit juice, etc...iows...a keto like diet but I'm loathe to say I'm dieting....
can't say the weight has melted off but I do feel a little less heavy...lol....
I've always thought there is more to obesity and diabetes then just blaming the person...
my husband is a bit heavy and paunchy and he eats desserts all the time...no diabetes...my SIL is quite a large person and heavy...eats a lot of carbs....no diabetes at all.....

Being overweight and or having diabetes is a risk factor for cancer. My wife was 5’2” and 200lbs when diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy but it returned. She died.
After she was diagnosed stage 4 four years ago I put us both on a very low carb diet but it was too late for her. After about four months I went zero carb on the carnivore diet. I’m down 50 lbs and have a BMI of 24, blood work is excellent.
I don’t count calories but avoid carbs, eating meat, fish and eggs, drinking water or black coffee. It’s a very simple way of eating. I usually eat twice a day. I scramble 5 eggs for one meal, then have about a pound of meat later. The rule of thumb is to get 30% of your calories from protein. Or try for one gram of protein per pound of your ideal body weight.
One of the supplements is rutin, similar to quercetin.
Interesting. Last summer I was on the Quercetin and D protocol. I lost 15 lbs and my A1C went into the great range. I have not been back for a year but I did stop the Quercetin and 10 lbs came back.
The weight just began melting away last summer. It was going away so fast I thought I was sick or had some kind of cancer.
How similar are Rutin and Quercetin?
Not sure why I quit the Quercetin but I think I’ll start it again and see what happens.

HFCS has to play hell on your muscles. USA is the only country making food stuffs with this crap in it. Sugar is still cheaper world wide than corn so the world uses sugar. US rates of type 2 are killing us faster that monkeypox and vaccinations combined!
I am a carnivore and eat like one, cept I like it cooked a little. All that processed carb stuff in boxes with poison flavor packets will kill you.
That’s what I am shooting for. Good job! I just need to replace my coffee with beef broth. I can’t take coffee without sugar so if 1 goes they are both gone.
