Well if I were in that type of position i would the regular by securing the future for immediate family members.

Then i would buy a house on the water
down in The Carolinas / Outer Banks so I could surf fish or go shark trolling & then onto the big hoo-de-ha down in
Ocean City Md for the blue marlin
tournament

I would then take a trip to Bimini
and do some bone fishing and then get some new golf clubs to do a couple of rounds.

...bottom line?

the rest goes to charity,
and anonymous endowments.

you cant take it with you-

but spreading that kind of money
around can make a big diff in other peoples lives . Establishing a school
for autistic kids nationwide would be
a real life gift to parents.

...

After opting for cash value and after all federal and state taxes are deducted, a winner in SC would take home about 42% of the gross amount.

Yes, it depends on the state. Some states tax lottery winnings incredibly high, while others almost do not tax them.

I always figure I would get 25% of the jackpot to my hand after taking the lump sum and federal, state and local taxes.

That way I can be pleasantly surprised with any extra on top of that.

Because they calculated it beforehand...”if there is no winner, this will be the next jackpot”

The motive for a lottery is mostly greed. I am guilty of succumbing to it on occasion but I resist it for the most part. So far this year I think I’ve bought 1 or 2 tickets. In this case since I’m not physically in the US all I can do is look on at the antics surrounding this particular jackpot.

I’m kind of tempted to get a ticket myself.

The head of Raising Cane (the chicken restaurant) bought a $2 ticket for each of his 50,000 employees.

Buy 302 million tickets and win 1020 million.
Unless there are multiple winners.

A lot of fools out there, spending a lot of hard earn dollars.

I remember a Spanish teacher from Brazil (socialist government at the time) telling us how socialist countries would have lotteries to give poor people hope of becoming rich.

The lotteries are designed to have high payouts to get more people to buy tickets. If you compare the odds of winning any lottery prize today to the lotteries of the eighties you will see your odds of winning are greatly reduced.

Lotteries are a swindle that gives people a false hope to enrich the organizations and people behind it.

But don’t forget the long lost people who always really loved you

Here in Ohio, and a few other states, winners can remain anonymous. Also you can have the ticket claimed by a Trust. So, If I win, no one has to know (except the IRS and the Ohio Department of Taxation).
