Not many can say that they’re literal godchildren of Les Paul himself. Steve Miller—who uses the hell out of Les’ guitars—has that bragging right, as well as the stories of performing and hanging out with the legend in general.
Despite getting to witness a man who will celebrate his 80th birthday in 2023 shred the axe like he’s in his 20s
Time keeps on slippin’, but luckily, Miller’s oomph-filled chops remain. If only Les could see him now.

Early on he was very blues based. Once he gained mass commercial success that changed. I like the early stuff. Same with Bozz Skaggs.
👍😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😉.......................
I never knew he was related to Les Paul. Interesting.
In a Mercury!.........................
They must love it a lot. I could never be on the road 200 to 250 (or more) days a year. That has to be grueling.
My business travel would often keep me away from home one-third of the time and I remember many days waking up in a hotel thinking “where am I?”
He played some tunes with a blues band from Texas with Jimmie Vaughan. He said he wanted to play some Blues because in his opinion that's where rock cam from. He strikes me as a competent music historian.
Never been a fan. On the other hand, it’s a chance to see an 80 year old croak out “really love your peaches, wanna shake your tree”. Decisions, decisions...
1975 or ‘76. Steve Miller (Wisconsin Boy Makes Good!) was the first big concert I ever went to. It. Was. Awesome. Laser Lights - before they were even a thing!
And the MUSIC! Steve Miller is still in my music rotation and will always be. I’ll be belting out ‘Jungle Love’ from my nursing home bed, LOL! :)
So glad I grew up when I did. I had people like Miller, as well as so many before him that were becoming legends at that time.

Then you would have enjoyed Rod Stewart croak out "Hot Legs".
” a man who will celebrate his 80th birthday in 2023 shred the axe like he’s in his 20s”
I like several of Steve Miller’s songs but never considered him an ax shredder.
On the way home last night after not being able to name the literal hundreds of "rock type" bands in the 60's to 70's we decided to name a few from current times. The car was almost silent. Foo Fighters? no thanks.
Arulo!
Fly Like an Eagle was an ideal 70’s stoner album.
Check out his early album “Children of the Future”. Very tasty, nothing like his pop era.
I know several people that age or older who could run rings around President Depends®. There are people here who say Trump is too old. He’s not. He seems extremely lucid and energetic. It’s not about age, it is about infirmity.
Like so many others, it must have been the time :)
Not for me. In my 70’s stoner era I considered Fly like an Eagle bubble gum pop. Steve was no longer cool at that point. Pink Floyd and the Zep, and Little Feat (for me) were the preferred stoner music.
Correct, however clearly some people age differently as I suggest. Biden is like a 1100 year old and these 78 rockers and Trump are more like 50 year olds.
Well, maybe performing helps. Big or small audiences? I played with some friends at the Ponderosa Saloon in Virginia City NV Saturday night for a 4 hour gig. Good crowd, good sound mix and seemed like we were pretty much on point. I just turned 75 and can still pick a few good notes now and then. I saw an interview with the Doobie Brothers and Michalel McDonald the other day and they’re close to my age. McDonald said when they get up to play, they’re trasported back to as if they’re 25. Yup. Didn’t really think I’d still be playing at my age but if I can and friends keep inviting me, I’ll do it. 🎸🎤
Yep, musicians live to play. Which is why when some get debilitating diseases they don't do well and others continue to strive for "comebacks". Joni Mitchell appeared at the Newport Jazz festival after having to learn how to play guitar again.
