Blame it on lingering effects of the pandemic, resentment over the lockout or economic fears.
Major League Baseball is struggling to fill the stands at pre-COVID levels as the sport heads into the last 2½ months of its first season since 2019 without capacity restrictions.
MLB reached the All-Star break with an average attendance of 26,409. That represents a drop of 5.4% from the All-Star break of 2019 — which was 10 days earlier than this year.
League officials remain encouraged and point to the recovery. […]
… Victor Matheson, a Holy Cross economics professor who specializes in sports economics […] said MLB relies more than other professional sports leagues on out-of-town fans. That makes MLB particularly vulnerable to issues that could curtail tourism. …

Yea, real role models for the kids.
$350-$400 for a family of four...
I see the Seattle Mariners’ 14-game winning streak got snapped yesterday.
Now they’ve started a new streak. 😈
Same here. Lived it and breathed it.
But if they want the BLM-Antifa—LGBTQRSTUVXXYYZZ crowd instead of us, they can have ‘em.
Srednik loved the Red Sox right up until that 200 foot black and white banner went up in left field.
Their all star game had the worst tv ratings in history which was great news. The people who run baseball are largely anti-American scumbags. The worse they do, the closer to going belly up they are, the better for America.
In Trump’s next administration the remaining Baseball stadiums could serve well as repurposed illegal alien detention centers.
Everything in the comments plus nobody is going to want to sit near the guy wearing a mask.
I’m guessing that if the National League teams were polled now, after a half season of DH, the results would be positive from Managers and players.
They gave out rainbow pride hats at the Cubs game. Didn’t see any of those hats in the crowd shots during the game.
Texas Rangers home games on Wednesdays have $1 hot dogs!
“You say “this forum” as if you regard yourself as being an outsider to it.”
No. Not an outsider. How else would you have phrased that comment?
TV money ruined sports.
For MLB, they’ve been trying to create fake drama for years now, while trying to remain PC.
The result - bland commentators, interminable close-ups of players, jolting ads, the list goes on.
Baseball is a strategy game - “theater of the mind”. The fun of it is seeing where the fielders are, etc., some “small ball” and the like. But nope, flashbacks of homeruns in the middle of an at-bat. They only show the field after the play (and the excitement} is over.
Most all of our nations’ people are conservative. democrats should hold only a handful of seat in congress if elections were honest in our nation. Problem imho is elections are not honest and our media lies
The problem is, Conservatives in general don’t want to serve in the public sector, so you don’t get enough good conservatives even running for office.
That is a delusional dream
The nation is split almost 50/50 among voters with the left voters prevailing in the cities by a wide margin
Nope not imho and as such I respect your opinion also but the truth closer to 70 - 30
A true statement imho and this truth helps to frame the lie our nation is split 50 - 50. There is more help to perpetuate the lie(s)
It’s the main reason I respect Trump. He didn’t need this, he had the perfect life. But he sensed deep down he was probably the only one who could have the impact that he did.
MLB ceased being the “National Pastime” long, long ago. It’s all about MONEY and WOKE now. Major cities figured out how to stiff taxpayers with recurrent and costly new stadia and expansions (while its politicians figured out how to line their pockets in the process.)
The only ‘good’ think you can say about MLB now is that it’s slightly better than the NFL.
Ditto
