The BS about gun deaths in the home, Robert Moses and the per-cog racist low bridges....

She’s on psychotropic drugs.

If it is a big enough cat. A trained panther or cougar will do. lol

The hard part is finding a dog with a valid driver’s license and can fill out a form 4473.

But they can be kicked much further than pit bulls, so there is that.

"...only allowed up to 30 pound dogs..."

Have you considered a miniature bull terrier?

Yep, a horse, a dog, a gun, an axe, and a knife. All it really takes to survive.

“it is better if the dog kills the person”

So, all I have to do is shoot the intruder dead and blame it on the dog?

“It was the most amazing thing, officer. The intruder had me cornered. I was looking at my dog, thinking this is the last time I’m going to see him. When right before my eyes, his front paws developed opposable thumbs and he left the room, only to come back with my loaded sig sauer...”

About 40 years ago I read a study that concluded the best defense against burglary is a small, happy dog.
Better than a big, powerful dog.
Better than any alarm system.
Better than a gun.
A little, yapping dog jumps at the slightest sound and yaps and yaps and yaps until he knows what’s up.

All these years later I tend to agree.

What the heck do you think they're doing while you're at work anyway, dryfiring practice.

On my exercise walks, I have found I want a gun to protect me from the aggressive dogs people let wander around. I am more afraid of the dogs than the people around here.

Dogs create a pattern of behavior that can be easily observed and used to advantage by a criminal. And only a professionally trained dog is actually effective against a person seeking to do harm. One squirt of pepper spray will put a household pet of 100 pounds on the run.

Furthermore, they cause a handler to be present in transitional spaces, like parks, and side streets and parking lots after dark that one would never choose to go in the night time but for the dog’s needs.

I hate noisy dogs. It would be impossible for me to put up with them barking incessantly.

From a security standpoint, how would one know if such a dog was barking as usual or because of an intruder, or a fire, etc?

I have two dogs and a gun or three at every door.

I think I'm okay

It’s more as a deterrent to the potential burglar than an alarm for the dog owner.

How to install a Southern Home Security System

1) Go to Goodwill and buy a pair of 14-16 men’s work boots.
2) Place them on your front porch along with a copy of Guns & Ammo magazine.
3) Put four giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazines
4) Leave a note on the door that reads:

Bubba,
Me and Marcel, Donnie Ray and Jimmy Earl went for more ammo and beer. Be back in an hour. Don’t mess up with the pit bulls. they got the mailman this morning and messed him up bad. I don’t think Killer took part, but it was hard to tell from all the blood.
Anyway, I locked all four of ‘em in the house. Better wait outside.

Be right back.

Cooter.
