The Virginia Kentucky District Fair is trying to find a woman who dominated almost every category. Her name is Linda Skeens. Linda enter many dishes in the county fair earlier this month and no one can find her.
The annual Virginia Kentucky District Fair has been around for over a century and never has anyone won so many categories. Skeens won first, second or third place in almost every cooking and baking category at the fair. She is trending on the internet and yet no one knows how she looks, nor has she come forth to claim her many many ribbons.
People are amazed at how she had time to prepare so many items to enter. These are just a few of the categories Linda Skeens took the top spot:
Best Cake
Best Pie
Best Jelly
Best Applesauce
Best Brownies
Best Apple Butter
Best Pumpkin Butter
Best Spaghetti Sauce
Best Sauerkraut
Best Overall Baked Goods (for her Strawberry Fudge) Linda Skeens also placed in Best Cookies, Best Bread and Best Candy. This lady should be on a reality cooking show!
Linda is not just a bionic superwoman in the kitchen. She also placed in all three embroidery categories as well.
best sammich?
Food Ping!.......................
“Sweet Potatoes or Pumpkin.”
That’s a toss up for me. A little bit of whipped cream..and they’re BOTH delicious. I’ll eat half a pie, if no one is looking.
Cool story.
It was obviously either a collaborative entry or someone ineligible/famous. Possibly a local culinary school?
Call the people who found the January 6 Peaceful Protesters. NOTHING can match their efficiency!
“Does she own a bass boat?”
LOL! My ex (with good reason) used to refer to my Engagement Ring as his ‘bass boat.’
Probably a guy!
Aunt Bee won so often with her pickles and such that Clara unfriended her.
She now substitutes Sweet Potatoes for the Pumpkin.
True, and call it Pie.
Feel-Good Story of the Year!
Q & I are BIG on entering crafts in our respective County Fairs. This year I am entering a crocheted Afghan (if I win, it will be my third Blue Ribbon!) and I’m adding canned goods and photography to hedge my bets. ;)
This lady is someone after my own heart, for sure!
I also make GREAT fruit butters, (Pumpkin, Apple, Plum, etc.) and Q is locally famous for her Jalapeno Jelly. :)
Not sure when I got so OLD that I now enjoy this kind of thing, but it sure is fun and good, friendly competition that keeps me on my toes! :)
👍
Sounds like one of those heart-warming movies from the 1940s. It’s good to hear about great families.
My first was this was Babylon Bee!!!
My second thought was....maybe she had the only entries!!!
NPR would never tell us that (I didn’t read the article!!)...
At our county fair in TX, we used to have a whole building of food, plantings, quilts, etc. Now, you get one per category. Very sad. No home economics classes in high school I guess...and you can tell as homes are about prepackaged food.
LOL
Reminds me of my late brother’s award-winning recipe for goose - it was long and involved, but the secret final step was -
“Throw all that out and have a steak.”
Yep processes change. No longer having to spend days in the
hot fields tilling, planting, tending, picking, processing food
for the next season.
Just run down to the corner store and pick up what you need.
Throw the container into the recycle or trash bin and go on.
Is that really a picture of her or did it come with the frame?
It came from the duck duck go search of cute Christian singles.
