A MINOR solar storm struck Earth over the weekend, sparking displays of the Northern Lights in the Arctic.
The storm was caused by a volley of radiation known as a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME), according to space weather trackers.
“Forecasters aren't sure why. The prime suspect is an unexpected CME embedded in the solar wind."
G1 storms can cause weak power grid fluctuations and have minor impacts on satellite communications.
“Expect unsettled to stormy conditions for the next 48-72 hrs.
“High latitude #aurora chasers should get good shows with sporadic views at mid-latitudes.

Surprise? What does that say about all their science and models? I can do better than any heliologist. Try this prediction on for size: there is a probability of 1.0 of a Carrington event in the future and leftist scientists that receive taxpayer grant dollars will be surprised.

When I start seeing the northern lights in Houston I’ll get worried.

Solar weather is a thing. We are nearing the maximum of the 11-year cycle. Some nut jobs probably think it has something to do with our weather and cycles in our climate.
When we all know that’s caused by corporations and billionaires that love to spew carbon dioxide.

Ham radio celebrated Field Day this past weekend.
Boy was it hot. West Ft. Lauderdale burbs here.
The sun affects our radio communication.
Just got my Amateur Extra ham lic.
That’s the highest ham lic.
Joined a nice radio club.
Having a great time with peers.
Must focus on the positive now more than ever.

I'm seeing a fairly regular pattern of CME causing my router to disconnect from my fiber. My WAN fiber connection was disconnected this morning. I had to reboot the router to get it back in service.

I have an Extra class as well. This weekend I celebrated another Field Day consecutive "miss" since 1976. It wasn't a 100% miss. My wife and I had plans for the Welsh Festival in Malad, Idaho. On the edge of the festival field was the local amateur radio group with a field day setup. There was an FT-991A just like mine on the table with an inverted V dipole strung up in the trees. The owner just passed his exams 2 years ago and is really enthusiastic. My wife and I signed his log for "eyeball QSO". My wife passed the TechPlus with the morse code proficiency on the last day that was offered.
I'm hoping to have time to enjoy my gear after I retire. Too much going on with a full time job. The Pocatello Amateur Radio Club has an 8 PM Sunday night net on the local repeater. Portneuf Valley ARES meets on a different repeater. The level of activity is significantly less than what we experienced in San Diego. My local packet radio breakfast group birthed Qualcomm. I had a nice job a PacBell at the time, so I didn't jump ship to stand up the company. C'est la vie!

Global warming caused this!
I am sure some in the media will find a “scientific” explanation why we have to stop emitting CO2.
