More of what I’m terming “racism by proxy”: seeking out reasons to make an issue about racism (in this case more “make an issue”, where “about racism” was already established), whereby a wannabe racist can point and say “look, racism! attack it!”
Was “white people asking to join the cookout” really an issue? does that happen enough to be a problem? or at all? Is there a problem if they do? ...or, having achieved status, are some reveling in the ability to reject others by race - and not having any to reject, create the issue out of thin air by preemptively and loudly rejecting them?
Racism can’t end if racism is perpetuated by those demanding an end to racism.
Slavery didn’t end on Juneteenth. There were at least three slave states that stayed in the Union, and slavery didn’t end there until the 13th Amendment took effect on December 31, 1865.
But, why let facts interfere with the racist narrative?

I used to drive through a black neighborhood in Atlanta going to the post office. On Fri & Sat there would be guys out in the yards with bbq rigs selling ribs. The street was wide with onstreet parking so you could pull over out of the traffic and they’d wrap the ribs in foil. Ribs were done low and slow, not scorched over high heat.
So yeah, I’ll let the black folks celebrate Juneteenth by themselves, unless I smell ribs, then all bets are off.
