I bet this could be extrapolated to all “binge” behaviors we consider “vices” Eating, smoking, drugs, porn, etc.
Sober 6 years, 9 months. Very rarely do I have a day I don’t think about drinking. Most alcoholics are addicts in general, and many replace one vice with another. Smoking for instance. Or pot. Or pornography.
My drug of choice was cigars, but I’ve recently been unable to tolerate them. It can be very difficult dealing with just life without a substance. SOBER: Son Of A Bitch, Everything’s Real.

I used to really like beer.
But I really hated hangovers.
Hangover-aversion won.
So, let me get this straight - the study showed that people who drink too much tend to drink too much?

In an age of micro-brew beers it’s hard. So many great beers today.
I binge drink about once a month, but I don’t have the urge to drink the rest of the time. I only drink during social occasions, such as when I’m out to dinner or at a bar or casino. Maybe being the child of 2 functioning alcoholics took away my urge to imbibe. I also have ADHD, which usually involves some element of an addictive personality, so I’ve learned to be cautious.
Heck. I should have been dead years ago if all this advice were true.

Your body has any number of filters to remove toxins. But if you over do it the filters get over whelmed and start to clog.
Soon even doing things in normal amounts will still cause your filters to clog.
So don't over do.
Or do over do.
It is your body, far be it from me to tell you want to do.
But understand that for everything there is a price.
And I am probably going to be disinclined to help you pay yours.
A doctor friend told me that most people who die from alcohol-related diseases also dabbled in drugs. If you mix liquor and drugs, you will die young.

doctors still need better training in how to screen for problem drinking -- that is, ask the right questions -- and offer help to patients who need it.Here's the survey:
1. Do you have hangovers every morning?
2. Do you regularly take home a girl from a bar that you thought was a super model but not so much in the morning?
3. Have you recently waken up on the floor or on the front lawn?

So I guess the article is right.
Funny how all of this negative press about alcohol has come out all of a sudden, while nary a word about smoking weed (hint it’s really bad to inhale smoke) .
