Help, please. I can't get into my Yahoo account due to an incorrect password. Verification code email from them isn't arriving in my regular email account.
I can't get into my Yahoo account due to an incorrect password. I've had this same account for years and years. Ten years ago, I changed the password and tried that one and the new one with no luck.
Sometimes yahoo sign in window will say they will send a verification code to the email account I gave them originally. That email is my regular years and years old internet/tv provider's email. Yes, yahoo is showing that correct account that they sent the verification code to but it isn't showing up in my email.
I've contacted my internet/tv provider but the lady has no clue and said to clear my spam. There is nothing blocked there. I know I have a ton of blocked ones but I can't find that list and she was clueless, too. Where the blazes to find it?
But the most worrisome zinger is sometimes the yahoo sign in window says my "password has been changed in the past 3 months" which I haven't. And sometimes it says it is sending a verification code to some email I've never heard of. I'm guessing it's been hacked???
Of course, my life is on that account. Of course, you can't talk to a human at yahoo and their "help" is a paid subscription. Is the paid subscription my only hope? Is their paid subscription a scam?
It sounds like you’ve been hacked.
Time to change everything linked to that email.
Look in the spam folder for the verification email account for the Yahoo reset email?
The spam folder is empty.
I had trouble with my yahoo account, they have a new security thing , I used a browser not Thunderbird to log in to yahoo and then saw the Verification code , 4 of them but all the same , LOL
That is what it sounds like. The hacker got into your email and changed the password and gave a different email address as the one to be used for verification.
This happened to me a few years ago. You won’t be able to get back in, and Yahoo will not help. DO NOT seek help with “Yahoo mail Repair” people you can find on the Internet. Those are definitely scammers. It is time to establish a new email account somewhere else.
Are they sending it to your phone, instead of email?
yahoo sign in window says my “password has been changed in the past 3 months” which I haven’t.
Windows 10 popup says that all the time ,LOL
Don’t use Yahoo. The warnings have been all over FR.
I’ve used Hotmail for >12 years since dumping Yahoo with no issues whatsoever, including no junk mail.
If you’re lucky, you’ll regain access to download your data, but all you can do is hope for the best at this point.
Yes, that’s basicially what yahoo takes me through. It sometimes shows my real email address to send their verification code to but I never get their email.
Sometimes, it wants to send the verification code to some unknown email. Of course, I click off that immediately.
Even if I’ve been hacked, why would yahoo sometimes want to send the code to the real email address one time and to the unknown email address the next time?
No. They don’t have my phone number.
I periodically receive email from folks that have a yahoo email account. I can tell from reading the email that this obviously was not sent by the yahoo account holder. These emails usually want me to click on a link for some lame reason.
It is apparent the account holder’s account has been hacked and this email is being sent to every address in their email contact list.
My advice: if you have a yahoo account, immediately change the password and abandon the account.
Get a new, FREE account at proton mail.
This advice also applies to hotmail account users. Lots of hacking going on there also.
I can’t get past Step 1 because there is no “I can’t access my Yahoo account” link on the Yahoo Mail log in page.”
The only help anymore seems to be a paid subscription they send you to and that’s got a big scam smell all over it.
If Yahoo! and Hotmail do not have protections against brute force password hacks, they are negligent in my opinion.
I know that for many of these services, they will lock you out after a small number of failed log-in attempts, but this is usually on a front-side browser interface. If they aren’t doing the same thing with pop/smtp/imap logins, they have really failed people.
The problem here is the business model.
Email holders aren’t their actual customers. Almost all yahoo and hotmail and gmail users pay no subscriptions.
All they are there for is selling ad space and mining data and selling it.
I have an old Yahoo! account, too. Can you go back into “Prefs/Settings” and re-check your email address? If that doesn’t do it, look in your trash folder, as it might be being blocked and re-routed to the email’s trash bin. Those can be fixed.
have you tried signing in from a different computer/device?
iPhone auto capitalize the first letter, Good idea is to always use a number as the first digit, like a former address you had.
Also could be that you have a bad key on the keyboard, what happens when you open notepad and type the password?
it is also possible, though unlikely that key has been mapped to other character.
