Lately, I've become hooked on Tucker Carlson's segments. I'm watching (actually, listening) on a regular basis.
Losing Rush Limbaugh was a body-blow for me. I miss the man; I miss his takes on thing; I miss his wit and his humor.
I've listened to many of the would-be replacements, and none of them could be even ten percent of the entertainer and conservative touchstone that Rush was.
Today, it occurred to me: Tucker Carlson could do the job. Oh, I grant you, Tucker would never be quite as good as Rush.... but he would be close, as close as anyone could be.
Tucker is insightful, and he has a good sense of humor. He is serving now as the conservative opinion-maker on Fox. I'd like Tucker to consider radio. I'd like him to try his hand at taking Rush Limbaugh's slot.
I have only one complaint about Tucker... his laugh sometimes seems forced and fake. Other than that, the man is completely capable of carrying on Rush Limbaugh's legacy.
‘And move those who disagree to the front of the line. Rush did that...’
he said he did that, but in reality, very few people disagreeing ever showed up on the show...
‘The two guys are ever-so-cautious not to EVER push the envelope.’
well, if you never tune in, how do you know that...?
Nobody can replace Rush.
I remember him beating Arsenio Hall soundly in the ratings, with Arsenio having a conniption fit over it. Tucker’s ratings are currently sumthin like 20x what Rush pulled in as a TV commentator.
Why aren’t there Rush quotes floating all over the internet?
I agree with Rush’s sentiment on that one.
Rush can’t be replaced. I actually had good hopes for Alex Jones.
Then I saw an old segment where he praised Keith Olberman.
Keith Olberman is a pedophile. Confirmed by me and FACT.
Also wasn’t he fatter back then (1990s) than he was more recently (around 2015 onwards), especially after his recent marriage?
Yes, but Rush's show was only 30 minutes, and was on at like 2am in most areas. Put Tucker on at 2pm and see how he does.
Yup. Being fat does not come across well at all on TV. I’m surprised Trump has gotten away with it. Baffled. If Trump could bottle that difference and sell it or give it to populist conservative politicians, we would be in charge for decades.
Put Tucker on at 2pm and see how he does.
***It’s too late to try that because he already has the audience and name recognition. One thing Rush did was he drove through radio ratings like a buzz saw. I doubt Tucker could do that because he is a tad more polite, a tad more introspective, a tad more accepting of his hosts, a tad more inclined to listen for at least a few seconds more.
One of Rush’s tricks was to interrupt the caller, say he needed to go to commercial, and then say “what I meant to say to the caller was....” after 3 - 4 minutes of thinking. Tucker does this on the fly. And he does it with the camera on his face. Far superior.
I think Tucker covers stuff more widely.
He is his own man.
Yes, he did. I remember.
Tucker is good doing what Tucker does.
But Rush’s three hours have split.
and not on the radio.
Podcasts.
Rush people now do watch/listen to Tucker, but they also listen to Steyn, VDH, Jordan Peterson, Rogan, Bongino, and a slew of others.
There will never be another Rush, and Rush did not annoint a successor, His company did not start a company that rotated a few good guys through. That opportunity is lost.
Radio is dying, podcasts are the new radio
Ai-yai-yai! As I once told my better half: “You don’t pay attention worth a bleep!” If you’ll double check, I said almost never....” Besides, when they first took over, and I was still suffering with Rush Withdrawal, I tuned in a lot; in hopes they could fill the void. Nay! They didn’t, couldn’t. So I went cold turkey. The last time I tuned in was last fall.
This. Go into a room and start talking about something that's near and dear to you and you'll be lucky if you can talk for 10 minutes let alone three hours. He truly was a talent on loan from God.
The ruling globalists & communists will never again allow such a thing (as Rush Limbaugh) have that level of uncontrolled influence and information to happen, ever again...
I like Steyn, but with Kuhner (WRKO), Plante (WMAL) Bongino (WMAL), Howie Carr (WRKO), and Jesse Kelly (WRKO) on iHeart (free) my dance card is full.
XM is increasing its footprint and audience.
