He may have been killed in a simmering beef that started over duck sauce.
A longtime co-worker of the Chinese food deliveryman fatally shot in Forest Hills on Saturday told The Post that the disgruntled customer wanted for questioning by cops in the slaying first hassled the joint over the amount of duck sauce it gave him.
One night late last year, “The customer came in and ordered some food,” recalled Great Wall restaurant worker Soi Chung, 70. “He left with the food but then came back and said, ‘It’s not enough.’ He came to the counter and wanted more food, more duck sauce.
“They had an argument, and the boss said, ‘It’s enough already,’ ” said the employee, who has worked at the Queens eatery for 20 years. “The guy left the restaurant and later came back and threw the duck sauce, everything, all over the place. So the police came and took a report, but the guy was gone.”
Chung said the irate customer only got more daring and dangerous.
“After that, sometimes, he’d be waiting around outside,” Chung said. “He’d say to the boss and to the delivery guy and to one of the chefs, ‘I remember you. I remember you.’
Chung and another employee said the 50-year-old angry patron even pulled a gun on staffers in January and vandalized their cars, including slashing the tires on the manager’s car.
Chung said the harassment ended when the workers reported the gun incident to cops.
Police are now probing whether tragic hard-working immigrant Zhiwen Yan, 45, was targeted by the customer, with detectives seeking to question the man, according to law enforcement sources.

Yan, a married father of three who migrated from China about 20 years ago, was making a delivery near 108th Street and 67th Drive in Forest Hills around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when he was shot once in the chest and knocked off his scooter.
He was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Alex, I am ready to solve the puzzle.
I'm gonna assume the suspect felt "disrespected" for not getting enough duck sauce.
Seems reasonable…
Yeah, I’m trying to picture what kind of nut would get so angry over such a little thing that he would go so far as to kill a hard-working Asian fellow. I think I know.
The Peking Duck was under cooked and the Duck Sauce gave the man indigestion and he was offered no chop sticks to eat with.
It’s higher than 100th St. That’s a description of the perp.
Amish? Amish take their duck sauce seriously. Chinese takeouts must give them as much as they want to slather over their fried rice and chicken wings.
I’ll admit that a few years back I got really pissed when the local Chinese didn’t put their own house made mustard sauce in the bag. And this was after I looked directly at the dude and asked if he put mustard sauce in. Not the crap that comes in packets. The stuff they make in the kitchen. I never went back there for years.
Same place must have done great with Covid relief money scamming. They were closed far longer than other restaurants, than other Chinese restaurants, and there were their two very nice recent model cars usually parked in the back. This Chinese restaurant is 5 blocks away from me.

Reminds me of a great Bill Burr Comedy routine, “Black fiends, clothes, and Harlem” Check it out.
I have seen all Bill Burr specials, they’re great.
His YouTube clips from Conan O’Brien are great as well.
Thank you for the reference.
Took three guys to put together a humor piece about a homicide.
“He may have been killed in a simmering beef that started over duck sauce.”
Inappropriate use of humor, given the circumstances of a law-abiding citizen and father being murdered.
A very good friend of mine's family had a chinese restaurant in Philly. He worked there all through high school and college. He said that when they first opened they put all the sauces out. Then they noticed a trend. Certain customers of unspecified demographics would take anything that wasn't bolted down if it was free. Guy comes in, orders cup of soup, takes 200 duck sauces and 400 ketchup packets. Eventually they started keeping the sauces behind the counter and they would ration the stuff to customers of a certain unspecified demographic because they would always demand double. It was a constant thing they had to deal with.
I suspect your answer is correct.
whats with duck sauce?
Many years ago 2 couples we know actually got into a huge to-do over duck sauce.
They stopped speaking to each other. Crazy stuff.
And an editor who let it get printed.

No problem. The relevant part is about half way through the routine where he talks about visiting his black girlfriend.
Forgot to mention that it’s a short Youtube video.
Yeah when the numbers keep going up...
I think getting married and having kids ruined him.
He’s probably happier, but he’s definitely not funnier.
