Is Rep. Kevin McCarthy's pledge to not impeach Biden for political purposes an act of surrender before the battle begins?

Yesterday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy appeared on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.

During the interview, Bartiromo played a clip of Republican Congressman Greg Murphy saying that Biden has committed impeachable offenses but members of Congress are reluctant to impeach Biden because the next in line of power is Kamala Harris in whom few have confidence.

When Bartiromo followed up asking McCarthy if he was considering moving forward with impeachment (if they win a majority in the House during the mid-terms).

McCarthy responded as follows:

"Look the one thing we learned that the Democrats did, is they used impeachment for political reason. We believe in the rule of law. We're not going to pick and choose just because somebody has power," McCarthy said, adding that "at any time if someone breaks the law" impeachment may be considered "but we're not going to use it for political purposes."

We will not get new leadership without new memebership.

145 GOP House members voted for Liz Cheney to lead them in Feb 2021 AFTER she made her anti-Trump stance well known.

ALL of them need to be replaced.

If we keep re-electing Assistant Democrats, they will just keep assisting the Democrats.

Letting illegals stream across the border?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That has been the top priority policy preference of BOTH parties for 30 years.
It is why BOTH parties colluded to cheat Trump out.
I’d expect as much from McCarthy who is roommates in DC with Frank Luntz. McCarthy shouldn’t be leading the GOP majority in 2023 he is establishment as they come.
All the charges are high crimes. Those who vote against it are going to be the ones that need to justify their criteria for impeachment.
How will a biden impeachment restore even one of our lost freedoms & liberties?
Like seeing a nest of termites and targeting just the one nearest to you...
The Nation needs to be restored...
There has to be an enormous flush in both DC and most State & municipal governments...
The government indoctrination system (referred to as a school system) needs to be 100% shutdown and the earth on which these institutions are located needs to be bulldozed flat and salted...
Do you imagine that if 218 members of Congress vote to pass articles of impeachment against Biden that;
1) There is any chance the Senate would convict him?
2) That anything in America would change?
He’s not going to be the next Speaker anyway so it really doesn’t mean anything.
Look the one thing we learned that the Democrats did, is they used impeachment for political reason.
The Clinton impeachment was political. Impeachment will always be political until High Crimes and misdemeanors can be specifically defined, which will never happen. It was always meant to be vague in nature and broad in what constitutes a high crime and misdemeanor.
If Joe Biden is not impeached because Harris is next in line & just as unfit...and that is used as an excuse, then know this. There is probably no one in the Democrat line of presidential succession who is really up to the task, so then what happens?? Somebody should have been thinking of this instead of wasting time dithering about problems with Trump. We had a viable country while he was president, so ask yourselves these questions>>>>what have we got now?? What do we do next?? Could we get refugee status in one of the European countries such as the Ukranians are doing?
They never say it is for political reasons, but so far it has been used mostly for political reasons.
In any case, I think the 25th Amendment is much more operable here than impeachment.
The impeachment was for abuse of power that included using government power to intimidate rape accusers.
If you are talking about Pres. Clinton....that’s not true. None of them was about rape.
Article I—Perjury in the Grand Jury
Article II—Perjury in the Civil Case
Article III—Obstruction of Justice
Article IV—Abuse of Power
details here - please point out the rape mention in any of the articles....
I keep saying it... “If the system were capable of fixing itself, we wouldn’t be where we are.”
If Democrats are scum and our side is infiltrated with wimps and assistant Democrats... Exactly WHO is going to fix anything?
The perjury articles were about the investigations into the rape allegations. Bill stated in testimony something like he could not have done these things because he does not cheat on his wife. Then they found out about the Monica affair and all they could get him for was the perjury.
thanks.
Nice stretch. It really doesn't apply.
How does a State of CT case definition that says "The courts have jurisdiction of high crimes and misdemeanors at common law" bind the feds ?
At the Constitutional level, High Crimes and Misdemeanors are pretty much what the House says they are,(hence the 2 impeachments of Pres. Trump).
The Fed Courts have no jurisdiction here.
And your state definition is not specific but rather vague and broad....kind of proves my point
The definitions of Constitutional High Crimes and Misdemeanors have been debated from here to eternity with no real consensus.
Interesting read here:
https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/10/what-does-high-crimes-and-misdemeanors-actually-mean/600343/
if you can find something concrete\specific, I'd be grateful.
Thanks again.
