American presidents for the past several decades, since the end of the presidency of Ronald Reagan, have had a pretty abysmal record when it comes to the U.S. geopolitical relationship with Russia and Vladimir Putin.
Of course, some presidents are worse than others, but none have really seemed to understand or want to understand the great existential threat posed by Putin and his blood lust for the glory days of the U.S.S.R.
President George W. Bush infamously said that he looked into Putin's eyes and saw his soul.
When my father was campaigning for the 2008 Republican Party presidential primaries, he responded to Bush's comment.
My father said he looked into Putin's eyes and saw 'three letters: a K, a G and a B.'
No one looks back on the Bush years with much regard to his foreign policy instincts or his intellectual heft as a president, but nonetheless it was a particularly stupid thing for the former president to say.
And it stands out for its incompetence given what is happening today amid Putin's continued drive to strengthen his murderous regime.
President Obama was caught on a live mic in 2012 telling Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that he would 'have more flexibility' to negotiate on missile defense after his November election.
In an another infamous clip from the 2012 presidential debate against Senator Mitt Romney, Obama made fun of the governor for bringing up the looming existential threat of Russia and Vladimir Putin.
Obama said 'the 1980's called and they want their foreign policy back.'
At the time, lapdog journalists, including CNN's Chris Cillizza, cheered the gotcha moment instead of taking Romney's warnings seriously.
They applauded like seals over Obama's cheap line – calling it the best moment of the debate.

Or maybe we’d be in our 13th year of the post-Nuclear Apocalypse.
This article is stupid. Trump is mentioned like 10 times and Putin did nothing when he was in office. Thats fact over the last 14 years.
Meghan, I consider your dead father an American traitor
/\
Me too
From Hanoi all the way to his grave.
Spit.
( Kerry too )
Meanwhile McWonderful was the head of the Senate Armed Services Committee for years and pulling in so much filthy lucre from defense contractors, he had to start his own “foundation”, like the Clintons to profit from the money laundering. We listened to him. Wars ensued and deaths occurred.
John McCain. Big ego, big mistake.
No sympathy and no loss. He attained his goals now he has to answer for them.
And we pay the price.
See: Syria, Libya
That guy is dead now huh?
I wonder if he votes Rat now.
“All McCain or Romney either one had to do was spend ten minutes talking about that wretched preacher . . . “
All McCain or Romney had to do was to talk about the border and pledge secure it with a physical wall.
All McCain or Romney had to do was talk abut all of the jobs lost to China through globalization and the need to rebuild American manufacturing.
All McCain or Romney had to do was pledge to end “the Affordable Health Plan” and use anti-trust law to break up the big pharmaceutical and health insurance companies.
All McCain or Romney had to do was talk about a real infrastructure plan to rebuild and upgrade roads, bridges, ports, and national parks.
John McCain was the head cheerleader for many bad things for America.
Amnesty is the worst one.
His legacy lives on in Flimsey Grahamnesty, Thom Tillis, John Cornyn, John Hoeven and Micro Rubio.
My sympathies to the worms.
Ain’t nepotism wonderful?
So what was he going to do?….nuke them…he was a small butt hurt bitter traitor…
TBF, McCain got more Americans killed over his career than Putin has.
I think the bigger news is that Meghan paused from eating to say this.
How much money did McCain steal from Ukraine?
"...just before Trump’s inauguration McCain confessed he had passed a defamatory “report” filled with salacious fake intel to the FBI, doubtless in hopes of wrecking his own president’s new foreign policy toward Russia."
"A video has surfaced online in which warmongers John McCain and Lindsey Graham are caught meeting with the Ukraine military, encouraging them to launch an offensive against Russia and restart hostilities, all the while describing Russia as the “aggressor” that must “pay a heavier price.”"

"In fact, under the Logan Act, it is a felony for any US citizen to interfere in US foreign policy without “the authority of the United States.” Here is the full text of the act:
§ 953. Private correspondence with foreign governments.
Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply himself, or his agent, to any foreign government, or the agents thereof, for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects."
I was around John McCain several times. He was mean and stupid.
Funny and true
McCain’s husband is Ben Domenech....
