American presidents for the past several decades, since the end of the presidency of Ronald Reagan, have had a pretty abysmal record when it comes to the U.S. geopolitical relationship with Russia and Vladimir Putin.
Of course, some presidents are worse than others, but none have really seemed to understand or want to understand the great existential threat posed by Putin and his blood lust for the glory days of the U.S.S.R.
President George W. Bush infamously said that he looked into Putin's eyes and saw his soul.
When my father was campaigning for the 2008 Republican Party presidential primaries, he responded to Bush's comment.
My father said he looked into Putin's eyes and saw 'three letters: a K, a G and a B.'
No one looks back on the Bush years with much regard to his foreign policy instincts or his intellectual heft as a president, but nonetheless it was a particularly stupid thing for the former president to say.
And it stands out for its incompetence given what is happening today amid Putin's continued drive to strengthen his murderous regime.
President Obama was caught on a live mic in 2012 telling Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that he would 'have more flexibility' to negotiate on missile defense after his November election.
In an another infamous clip from the 2012 presidential debate against Senator Mitt Romney, Obama made fun of the governor for bringing up the looming existential threat of Russia and Vladimir Putin.
Obama said 'the 1980's called and they want their foreign policy back.'
At the time, lapdog journalists, including CNN's Chris Cillizza, cheered the gotcha moment instead of taking Romney's warnings seriously.
They applauded like seals over Obama's cheap line – calling it the best moment of the debate.

He never said anything about China, however.
McAsshole is right where he belongs.
Sleeping with the worms.
BS. According to the “media”, the Ukes are destroying the Russki military. That’s a good thing for America especially now that we have a transgender military.
Bitching about Barack Obama’s fecklessness is like complaining that pumping a septic tank ‘smells’...
I’m of the opinion that we had more to worry about with her father than Putin.
Quiet Piggy.
And we warned the world of the threat of John McCain and the leftists in control of the USA.
Mad Cow McCain should shit her lying mouth.
Daddy was owned by the Azovs.
(Care for some more mac and cheese, Meg?)
Your father was a Putin stooge.
She needs to shush.
The video and images of her war mongering father and Graham with Azov and Uk soldiers, starting crap when things had settled down, is not a good look. Same with those images with him and the ‘to be’ Isis leaders (Syria).
He propped up some horrendous people. We could equally and hypothetically say that her dad contributed to the escalation which lead to this war.
The Biden Consortium and China are on the march. And McCain probably would have liked both of them.
Between Meghan McCain, and Adam Kinzinger, I don’t know which one is the bigger attention whore.
Uh.. no Meagan. The person who allowed this to happen is the man who likely sniffed you in your younger years. And you voted for him.
Hey Meghan … Nobody listened to what your father had to say about Putin because he would tirelessly rant about invading countries all over the world just to help his Sunni Muslim handlers. Please shut up and go away.
Does the name Steele mean anything...how about Hillary?..or the DNC? F McCain, the lying POS.
“My daddy said...”
Doesn’t get more annoying than that.
