About 129,000 wall beds sold online by Costco, Amazon and other retailers are being recalled after the furniture left one person dead and injuries were reported in 60 other incidents. The beds can detach from the wall and fall on people.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and furniture company Bestar announced the recall on Thursday. An additional 53,000 of the beds are being recalled in Canada.
A 79-year-old woman died in 2018 after a wall bed fell on her and injured her spine, according to the news release from the CPSC and manufacturer.
Others have reported bruising, among other injuries, after the beds detached or hit them, the release said.
Costco, Amazon, Wayfair and Cymax sold the beds online from June 2014 through March 2022. They were priced between $1,650 and $2,200.
The recall affects a slew of models: Nebula, PUR, Versatile, Edge, Cielo, Audrea, Lumina, Orion and Novello Full and Queen Wall Beds.
Consumers should immediately stop using the beds, according to the release. Those who aren't sure if their bed needs to be reinstalled can get a free inspection.

The picture at the OP link did not show the foot of the bed for me. I assume there were feet to the floor to support the end of the bed. This right?
If foot of bed is not supported then that would a heck of a lever force imparted to the wall attachments. It would take some number of lag bolts to wall studs to support the bed under its rated load. It's rated loading for the wall attachment should include kids and errr adults doing trampoline things on the bed plus a ~~>hefty<~~ safety factor.
A completely wild ass guess is that this nice piece of furniture had interior designer type input and forgot the mechanical engineer. Cheap skates maybe!
Wow.....a bed is recalled after ONE death (as it should be, RIP dear lady who was killed), yet these $hots are still being pushed/rolled out, after 26,000 ++ deaths and 2M cases of adverse effects...

I, while living in a small apartment (1970-1973) slept on a Murphy Bed for several year. No problems.
i was literally going to but one of these beds from their website. My guess is they didn’t anchor the unit to the wall properly, and they are paying the price for the increasing dumbassery of the average person.
