Bruce Willis has been diagnosed with aphasia and will be stepping away from his decades-long career, his family announced Wednesday.
Aphasia is a medical condition that can affect a person’s ability to speak, write and understand language, both verbal and written, according to the Mayo Clinic. It typically occurs after a stroke or a head injury.
“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities,” the 67-year-old’s family wrote in a statement shared to each of their Instagram accounts, adding that he will be “stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”
“This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support,” the family continued. “We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.

My mentioning the "classics" was, indeed, misleading.
And if my previous remarks may have seemed "high-handed:" I am more than willing to admit to having an abysmal knowledge of sports, popular entertainment, music, handicrafts, automobile mechanics, and firearms.
Since you asked: My mother was an R.N., and already as a pre-teen I at least leafed through all of her old medical textbooks. In later years, I read them - for pleasure.
I am admittedly a "word person," but don't look down on people with strengths and skills in other areas.
Regards,
He’s in 10 films coming out this year or next. Is that because he knew his career was ending?
Acronyms from different fields can be really confusing.
I'm a RRT, CPFT, NPS....
I work with MD's, DO's, APRN's, RN's, CNA's, LPN's...etc....
Alphabet soup.

He’s done like 10 movies this year
The military uses the same alphabet to make a different soup.
Willis divorced Demi Moore in Oct., 2000. I still remember the shock and headlines. Aphasia is serious caused by head injuries and he will need a full time caretaker.
The thing that is most concerning to me is when some of the intellectual giants on FR make posts such as "it's the vaccine unless proven otherwise".
My screen just got very blurry.
Beautiful memory.
Yep.....................
My Mom has “Post stroke aphasia”. Getting better but comes and goes. Sometimes aware of it, sometimes not. It’s better when she’s not aware, for me anyway, cause when she is she gets frustrated as hell. I’ve learned to cope, it’s a pita, but damn!
Wonderful memories of good times. Wish you well in the future.
I did theater and TV (in front of and behind the camera) and you don’t have time to think. A friend who did a movie (Big Red One) said it was even worse. It’s amazing Bruce could be so personable.
It had that ‘Shawshank Redemption’ sort of thing going there, just a bit.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Bruce Willis movie I didn’t enjoy...I’m even pretty fond of Hudson Hawk. It’s hard to watch that movie without getting the impression Willis knew it was going to be a box office bomb and he decided to just have as much fun as he could during filming.
Sorry about your father. Yes, I heard aphasia can be an early symptom of alzheimers.
That made me cry.
Hey, we all grow old and something will get us.
Use your time you have left to the best.
