Does anyone here breed kitties?
I have a rule, as soon as I have a stray move in, it’s spay/neuter time. I’ve got three now that I feed, the girls are spayed, the Tom is too wild to catch they all see each other but I don’t worry. The girls don’t like the old Tom anyway. I’ve done this for years. They’re handy on the farm for rodent control but they tend to multiply too fast left alone. Nice to have them healthy too. The trip to my Vet helps.
Once any animal hits the farm, and stick around, they immediately become part of the family. They all get named, and if we can catch them, they get veterinarian care. Makes no difference if they are strays or we buy them and bring them home, all my animals are cared for. The standing joke anytime someone comes around is to ask them if they need a good dog or cat, knowing that my wife would never part with them.
Do we have a cat ping? I know we used to have a horse ping, a dog ping, and I used to (still could) do German Shepherd ping.
Could you elaborate? Might cut down on the rise-assery. What do you want to know?
Yeah they don’t need much help in breeding. I have a good friend, actually a few, who are cat rescue guys. Cats are cool. They’re just not dogs but they’re cool. I’ve had several cats who were really interesting friends that I loved very much. And those feelings I’m sure were quite mutual.
agree 1000%
If you would ask a substantive question, there might be someone here who could answer it.
Are you planning on opening a Oriental restaurant?
dammit...
now i have a hankering for some general tso’s kitten...
Memories of Bonsaikitten.com
Was an indoor/outdoor cat. Sometimes she stayed out all night.
When the litter of four kittens arrived under the basement
steps one morning, my Dad said:
. "Okay Fluffy, old girl, you are going for a little operation."
No more litters after that. We found good homes for all four of
the cute little fur balls. 3 female, 1 male.
We could tell that Fluffy was sad when they left, but she got over it.
That was my first and last experience with cat breeding.
I don’t breed mine personally. I have a male cat that does that.
I am asking whether there are people here who Reed cats whether domestic short or long hairs or other breeds?
I have has a few litters of kittens out of outstanding cats and after many years have another outstanding cat who is breed able. Since cats recently in our area are all half wild barn cats with very few domestic cats giving g birth I thought it would be great to have a litter or two of well matched intelligent domestics. In our neck of the woods I have a waiting list already of folks ready to commit to an attractive and intelligent housecat.

You don’t need to breed them, they breed themselves.
Is your ‘outstanding cat’ a purebred one? Queen or Tom?
Cat genetics are complicated, and breeding them is complicated too. You should probably be talking to a breeder, or consulting sources of professional information -even if you just want a few house cats to give away.
(If you want to sell them, it gets even more complicated.)
Are you a serious breeder, who has CFA registered purebred cats? Or at best a backyard breeder? You sound like you’re more serious than barn-cat natures course, but just wondering.
Again, don’t we have anyone on FR that does a cat ping list?
Slings and Arrows?
I think Chickensoup may be enjoying his/her Friday evening a little early...
Thinking back on it now we rescued a very young male cat who became a favorite. He was an outdoor cat who killed everything he could possibly kill. He brought birds and mice into the house so we could enjoy him doing his thing. We’ll never forget the Mothers day BBQ with dozens of our relatives enjoying the mild weather and company when he raided a rabbit nest next door, repeatedly arriving with fluffy little mouth sized baby rabbits that he delivered to my feet at the grill. One after the other complete with screaming women and children outraged at our killer cat. He was in his element. A crazy cat, with a sense of humor.
