The Russian tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda reports that, according to the Russian MoD's figures, the Russian Armed Forces have sustained 9,861 killed in action and 16,153 wounded in action in Ukraine. A shocking figure.

May be double that......................
I really dont believe it. Either way. I don’t think anyone really knows.
I’m team Ukraine but find it hard to root for Russian casualties. Most of them are young conscripts.
Russia will surrender to Biden any minute.
Rather high killed to wounded ratio.
Hitler invaded France 10 May – 25 June 1940. People were AMAZED that he conquered France in just over a month.
27,000 dead Germans.
111,000 wounded Germans.
Everyone at the time knew that this was a stunning German success.
What’s that? Russia has lost almost 10,000 while conquering Ukraine? [shrug] They’ve seen worse.
I agree. Double that.
It has been interesting how Russia is trying to find additional personnel (Syrians, Libyans, Chechens, Wagner group, pulling troops from Armenia, etc).
I find it quite plausible Russia has sustained heavy losses. According to the Russian tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda, 26,000 killed or wounded.
Smart to not believe some lowball figure from the Russians.
My first thought as well. Due maybe to disproportionate number lost when their armored vehicles were destroyed?
“while conquering Ukraine”
Wrong. They haven’t conquered Ukraine. 10,000 dead and they’ve only taken 1 main city Kherson. And then Kherson isn’t really one of the bigger cities.
That 1/4 of Vlad’s forced pep rally.
So, they are reporting about 6k dead and 16k wounded, which is probably an underestimate when you consider their vehicle losses. They don’t mention captured. Let’s just say, because it’s Russian source, that it’s twice that, or about 33k Kia or wounded, and throw in another 10k deserted or captured. That’s 43k of 200k troops. Or about 20-25% loss.
They say modern armies become combat ineffective at 40-60% loss rate. The next few weeks could be critical for the Russians.
Gathering in large groups and slowing advancing towards a city isn’t exactly the best military strategy... In this war, or any war. I.E. Sitting ducks make for easy targets.
Young conscripts...with parents.
Not going to sit well.
Their ‘armored’ vehicles must be made of TIN PLATED PLYWOOD..................
.
I’ve read some “analysts” who say Russia will be a “spent” force in another 2-3 weeks.
I don’t really buy it.
But...
