Top supplements for people 50 plus
Dr Brad Stanfield youtube channel ^ | Sep 17, 2021 | Dr Brad Stanfield

Dr Brad Stanfield notes that metabolism goes into steep decline after about age 60. Simultaneously age related disease go straight up in the other direction.

He therefor surmises that supplements that improve metabolism have the best chance of improving defensive mechanisms against age related diseases.

His top five list consists of 1. NR nicotinamide riboside 2. Melatonin 3. Glutathione precurer L cysteine OR NAC 4. Glutathione precurser L serine (which converts to glycine) 5. Hyerleronic Acid.

He mentions that L carnitine may have a role in treating non alcholic fatty liver disease. (If you have a big gut--then likely you have a fatty liver.)

He also mentions sulpheraphane psyllium husk fisetin, metfomin, creatine.

He doesn't include vitamin c vitamin d, zinc, omega 3 because he believes he can get enough from diet.

As a knock on, he says that when these supplements are used in concert they significantly downgrade covid symptoms.

Sorry I’m sticking with C, D3, K2, Zinc, Tumeric, Quercetin and homemade HCQ. So far not a sniffle.

I take a couple of those things. Melatonin seems to lose its effectiveness - in promoting sleep - over time. You take it for a couple of days and then you have to use something else.

The good thing about vitamins and herbs is nobody ever says “You can’t drink on this.” Party on!

During the pandemic I took daily doses of Scotch, bourbon, brandy, gin, vodka, wine, and beer.

All at the same time?

I have metastatic prostate cancer. After 7½ years, my PSA is undetectable. I take the following each day:

1. 1,000 mg Vitamin C twice per day
2. Multivitamin twice per day
3. 6-8,000 iu of Vitamin D twice per day
4. Turmeric
5. Glucosamine-Condroitin once per day for joint health.

Metastatic prostate cancer has no cure and the 5-year survival rate is about 54%. That includes men who are in the final days of their lives. I am no where close to that.

My oncologist tells me I am responding so well that I will very never likely never have to go on to more aggressive treatment.

“metfomin” is an Rx for Type 2 Diabetes, not a supplement.

You might find the following of interest:

Health Tips for Fighting Cancer

(From a posted bio): James Templeton is a 30-year cancer survivor who healed himself from a terminal diagnosis with the use of alternative medicine and healing modalities. He has chronicled that journey in his book, I Used to Have Cancer: How I Found My Own Way Back to Health. As the visionary founder of the Templeton Wellness Foundation, James has since utilized his wisdom and experience to helping others achieve optimum health and wellness.

Templeton's approach seems broadly consistent with the one that you have taken, but adding a dietary regimen similar to the reliance of Gershon therapy on phytochemical rich green foods.

I eat less food, but don’t do anything special. Actually, my diet kind of sucks. Key is to not over eat and get on my recumbent bike or rowing machine about 1 hour per d2Fay.nothing to strenuous.

Recently read the book, “Life in the Fasting Lane. As much as reasonable eat all my food within a four hour window. Really helps keep weight undeŕcontrol

Fasting is thought to have anti-cancer properties. Yet phytochemically dense greens are said to be especially potent against cancer.

There is an anecdote about a blue collar Greek immigrant widower in New Jersey who came down with lung cancer and was urged to have surgery and chemo to extend his life. Instead, reconciling himself to death within a year or two, he sold his home, gave most of the proceeds to his kids, and returned to his small and remote home island in Greece.

There he rented a small cottage and took up the active lifestyle and simple diet of his youth, walking about to visit old friends and family, and eating wild greens collected on the hillside, with a bit of cheese, olives, and fish as available. No grains and no sugar or alcohol.

After a couple of years, the old bird was feeling restless and well enough to travel back to the US to visit his children and grandchildren. Urged to get a medical checkup, he astonished his doctor by not only being alive but with his cancer in remission.

Anyway, he returned to Greece and supposedly lived into his 90s, with no cancer. Anecdotes can be instructive but are are not data. Yet there are many studies that show green vegetables and herbs as having anti-cancer properties. It is possible to get them as extracts in supplement form.

Maybe so for him, but no diet or lifestyle change has produced any evidence it works for metastatic prostate cancer. The 5-year survival rate for my initial diagnosis was about 5.4 years. I’m at 7½ years and in good shape with just Lupron and Xtandi.

The average is that Lupron initially work for 3 months to two years. I got almost 4 years out of it, although my PSA gradually increased to 1.7 when we added Xtandi. That was 3½ years ago and my PSA has been undetectable from two months after I started it to the present time. Xtandi, on average works for only around 6 months. I’m at 5½ times that with no indication it’s going to stop working at anytime in the foreseeable future.

I am one of the very fortunate ones and God has blessed me.

Found in many places but you can checkout Amazon and read the comments——
Jarrow MSM in the one kilo size. This is an enhanced MSM called OptiMSM — about $26
also buy
Sodium ascorbate powder 8oz made by Now Foods — about $11

This combo will take care of many or all aches and pains. Gout also. These two taken together make a major anti- inflammatory.

At Amazon you will also find OptiMSM sold by Kala. It has 2000+ reviews. But Jarrow is the best deal pricewise. Read the Kala and Jarrow comments and reviews.

DOSAGE>>>

Take one level tablespoon Jarrow MSM along with half a teaspoon sodium ascorbate powder. Do this once or twice daily. More details upon request.

DMSO is what you apply topically to sore joints. Must add 20-25% pure water to it.

Jarrow MSM should stop further balding. Your hair and fingernails will grow 2x-3x faster

Your best D3 value is the 10000 iu in the red bottle at Amazon. $11-— Get your D3 levels tested. Take one 10000 iu gelcap daily and get your D3 up to 75 ng/ml or more

Take this D3 with K2 and a good magnesium supplement such as magnesium glycinate.

This will super boost your immune system. D3 is the sunshine vitamin, so will also give you a sunnier outlook on life. I don’t care how much sun you get. Get your D3 tested and get your levels up to 75 ng/ml
