There is an anecdote about a blue collar Greek immigrant widower in New Jersey who came down with lung cancer and was urged to have surgery and chemo to extend his life. Instead, reconciling himself to death within a year or two, he sold his home, gave most of the proceeds to his kids, and returned to his small and remote home island in Greece.
There he rented a small cottage and took up the active lifestyle and simple diet of his youth, walking about to visit old friends and family, and eating wild greens collected on the hillside, with a bit of cheese, olives, and fish as available. No grains and no sugar or alcohol.
After a couple of years, the old bird was feeling restless and well enough to travel back to the US to visit his children and grandchildren. Urged to get a medical checkup, he astonished his doctor by not only being alive but with his cancer in remission.
Anyway, he returned to Greece and supposedly lived into his 90s, with no cancer. Anecdotes can be instructive but are are not data. Yet there are many studies that show green vegetables and herbs as having anti-cancer properties. It is possible to get them as extracts in supplement form.
