"It will obsolesce all existing launch systems".
Elon Musk recently provided the first big update on SpaceX's Mars-bound rocket, Starship, and its competitors are watching on with "a mix of awe and horror", according to a report from Politico.
At his latest Starship presentation, SpaceX CEO Musk highlighted the fact that Starship will be reusable over and over again at a fraction of the cost of previous rockets. It's a development that threatens to leave NASA and other competitors in its wake as it launches to the proverbial stratosphere...
While it has long been known that Starship would be reusable, the advanced capabilities reportedly have other space organizations, including NASA, worried that their own in-development rocket projects will be rendered obsolete...
Starship is designed to be the first reusable spacecraft that will be able to take crew and cargo to the Moon and Mars before returning to Earth. By contrast, NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) for its Artemis Moon landing missions has gone billions of dollars over original budget estimations and is years behind schedule. What's more, NASA estimates that an SLS mission will cost approximately $2 billion per launch, while Musk announced in his latest presentation that a Starship mission could cost a comparatively low $1 million.

WAY TO GO ELON!......................
I’m not surprised. The government is so risk adverse they overbuild everything.
Meanwhile California is sure they can get their high speed train from Los Angeles to the moon (or maybe Pasadena) if they spend a couple of trillion dollars.
The bogus environmental crap waged as lawfare is resulting in an earlier move to the Cape of SpaceX's Starship launch towers. The foundations for two of them are already in place and construction is unlikely to take as long as the first one (which went through iterations). Environmental lawfare in Germany is again slowing the opening and operation of the GigaBerlin plant, and has merely shown that "environmentalist" organizations are really just fronts for special interests.
Elon needs to decouple from NASA.
They are going to drag him down with craziness like this:

While I’m intrigued, those numbers sound off... $2 billion vs. $1 million??
NASA has always only been a conglomeration of government contractors.
SpaceX is owned by Elon Musk, private citizen. He cares 24/7 and works over 100 hours a week where as the govt only seems to want to try to care from 9-5/M-F.
NASA is very excited to see Starship succeed. They are already using the Falcon 9 for many of their launches.
It is Northrup Grumman, Boeing, and the Congressmen they own that are fearful of losing the billions in funding they have had for decades.
They mat have kids at home, or in college, they know there’s no rush, the jokers building space capability started taking their sweet time after Apollo — that was a program operating against a deadline.
Funny how pressure clears the mind and gets results when nothing else will.
“While I’m intrigued, those numbers sound off... $2 billion vs. $1 million??”
Indeed. Falcon 9 launches from Space X are about $50 million. Starship will cost more than that.
This is the difference between GOVERNMENT and PRIVATE SECTOR doing the SAME thing with drastically different results.
Apply the results of this to EVERYTHING government does. It is the same lazy, shiftless, make-work crap that has ruined transportation, energy, healthcare, aviation, and everything else it has infested. The graft, career building, etc in government stagnates these projects while the private sector is predicated on delivering RESULTS.
Replace all of those extra-Constitutional, rights infringing, departments and agencies with IEEE/UL type private consortiums and let’s get our economy to do what it does best...
Only $1 million per launch. That’s about how much NASA pays for a hammer from Harbor Freight Tools.
This guy is an innovator and business man.
He allows others to freely innovate and the Biden druids and deep state hate him for it.
Do not count out Tesla in the EV space.
Remember, this is Elon Musk promoting SpaceX.
It should be take with a skeptical eye.
I would love for it to be true.
Competition does the same.
Actually they spend most of the 9-5/M-F surfing porn sites, sleeping, playing computer games.....
We’ll see
