SpaceX has NASA "Sh*tting The Bed" | February 18, 2022 | LaterClips
WAY TO GO ELON!......................
I’m not surprised. The government is so risk adverse they overbuild everything.
Meanwhile California is sure they can get their high speed train from Los Angeles to the moon (or maybe Pasadena) if they spend a couple of trillion dollars.
While I’m intrigued, those numbers sound off... $2 billion vs. $1 million??
NASA has always only been a conglomeration of government contractors.
SpaceX is owned by Elon Musk, private citizen. He cares 24/7 and works over 100 hours a week where as the govt only seems to want to try to care from 9-5/M-F.
NASA is very excited to see Starship succeed. They are already using the Falcon 9 for many of their launches.
It is Northrup Grumman, Boeing, and the Congressmen they own that are fearful of losing the billions in funding they have had for decades.
This is the difference between GOVERNMENT and PRIVATE SECTOR doing the SAME thing with drastically different results.
Apply the results of this to EVERYTHING government does. It is the same lazy, shiftless, make-work crap that has ruined transportation, energy, healthcare, aviation, and everything else it has infested. The graft, career building, etc in government stagnates these projects while the private sector is predicated on delivering RESULTS.
Replace all of those extra-Constitutional, rights infringing, departments and agencies with IEEE/UL type private consortiums and let’s get our economy to do what it does best...
Only $1 million per launch. That’s about how much NASA pays for a hammer from Harbor Freight Tools.
Remember, this is Elon Musk promoting SpaceX.
It should be take with a skeptical eye.
I would love for it to be true.
We’ll see
The moon is pocked with huge craters caused by asteroid collisions over billions of years. Those asteroids are said to be rich with extremely valuable minerals. always wondered if such a starship that Elon is building would be immensely profitable if it was used to mine those craters.
This is the beauty of a first-rate corporation, in competition with high-paid, high-minded government employees, who care more about their 401k, ira’s, and government sponsored mutual funds, more than “we shoulda been to dah moon years ago” attitude. Also, the government employees are dependent upon a geriatric Congress, whereas the corporation is not.
Weird that it looks like something out of a 50’s B movie...
It always helps when Engineers are doing the design and not Congress Critters buying votes for jobs in their Districts.
I just want my Starlink…………..
Should be here next week!!
“...as it launches to the proverbial stratosphere...”
Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
Or you will be like him yourself.
Answer a fool according to his folly,
Or he will be wise in his own eyes.

NASA can still have a job warning us about global warming.
Who needs any of that spaceship stuff?
Range time is well over $10 Million per day. (required for tracking etc.)
