Why aren’t employers competing with each other to hire this woman, yoe?
Need I look?
I don’t see a problem with it.
The only thing wrong with the story is that Harris Teeter should not have mentioned the voice mail message when they called her. They should have simply turned her down and left it at that.
Back in the early 90s I was looking for a better job and attended some courses. One piece of advice was to change your answering machine outgoing message to something professional. Still applies.
I always said technology was going to end up being the destruction of this nation. Appears I was correct with my assumption.
Due to no fault of my own, from my neurofibromatosis and cherubism I am missing most of my teeth and have a noted jaw deformity. As a result I am denied almost every job I apply for even though I meet the qualifications. Also I have seen well over one dozen dentists and oral surgeons and all agree there is no chance for any restorative work to be done. As a result I do not feel for any of these people who complain about not getting a job over something which they are in 100% control of.
Thanks for the link... Newsweek has turned into a click-bait trap with dozens of links that take you to everything but what the headline is about.
I have my dog barking on our voice mail, but it is not as stupid as that girl's message. I probably wouldn't hire her either, but knowing that people get sued for everything these days, I certainty would not leave a comment on her voice mail telling her why.
if she sounds like an imbecile- i’d question her judgement.
BUT Hiring manager coulda shoulda kept that to himself.
Was the personal phone to be used for work? If not, not such a big deal.
Contrarily, if that influenced the hiring manager’s choice, why say so on the record in the age of everything-ism and cancel culture? Just hang up and move along.
When I was a flight attendant, a young lady asked me if I could give her information on applying. She wrote her email address on a napkin and I stuck it in my pocket. Later, I pulled it out and was going to send her the link to apply and her email was something like partygurrrlllll696969@****.com
I threw it away.
Ghettoism is now a protected dysfunction
It’s a shame her parents didn’t raise her better
I don’t even record a vmail message. I just use the default…. You’ve reached ###-###-#### leave a message.
There is a silver lining. The DNC will be contacting her with a job offer later today.
Not a professional greeting at all.
But I have heard worse.
Kind of depends on what level of job she is looking for.
She did leave this number (and VM if she doesn’t answer ) for a prospective employer .
Unless she is expected to receive client calls on her personal phone, her VM greeting shouldn’t matter one whit to an prospective employer.
What a perverse world we live in that this story makes it to Newsweek. Clown world.
