You are correct. For Harris Teeter to have made an issue of this only serves to prove how racist they are for commenting on a black thing. As we are often told, it’s a black thing, we wouldn’t understand.

There are many times I want to give advice to people applying for jobs because you want to help them.
But, why put make them someone else’s problem?

Absolutely true. Once upon a time, it made sense for people to offer “helpful” suggestions — even if it was not what people want to hear. Now, if you disparage someone in any way (no matter how justified) YOU are the problem. The best policy is to deliver the message without any unnecessary comment.
