The danger of the momentum behind N95 respirators
The Blaze ^ | January 20, 2022 | DANIEL HOROWITZ

The Biden administration plans to distribute millions of them to local pharmacies. But is there really any evidence that the same people who were wrong about masks are now suddenly connected to God’s word when it comes to respirators? And who says it is safe for people to wear something like that for long periods of time, which until now required rigorous testing, medical exams, and training?

Yes, N95s, unlike masks, actually meet the standard for PPE in hazardous environments. But for which sort of hazard? Not an airborne respiratory virus. Stephen Petty, a certified industrial hygienist and hazardous exposure expert, sent me a copy of an N95 usage label made by 3M that he enlarged into an infographic. It turns out the company's own disclosure blows up the myth of using an N95 for viral protection.

The label confirms what everyone understood prior to the mask mania of COVID: Neither masks nor N95 respirators can stop aerosols, certainly not viral ones, which are much smaller than bacteria. What's truly revealing is that the label recommends against relying on them for source protection even against asbestos particles, which are on average 5 microns – 50 times larger than SARS-CoV-2 virions.

A large randomized controlled trial published just months before the discovery of SARS-CoV-2 — before masking became a political and social control tool — showed no benefit to N95s over surgical masks in terms of protection against the flu. "Among outpatient health care personnel, N95 respirators vs medical masks as worn by participants in this trial resulted in no significant difference in the incidence of laboratory-confirmed influenza," concluded the authors of the large trial, published in JAMA on Sept. 3, 2019.

Also, remember, that most people are not wearing sealed N95s.

The Montana Department of Health emphatically writes in bolded letters that N95s that seal are the only things that might help against smoke particles (which are around 1 micron, 10 times larger than most viral virions), but warns of health risks. “Note that respirator masks should be a last resort, as they are difficult to fit correctly, decrease oxygen intake, are hot, and can easily leak when worn improperly.” They go on to add, “People who are not physically fit may experience difficulty going about daily tasks due to reduced oxygen intake. It is more important to have enough oxygen than to have clean air - if you are using a respirator and feel faint, nauseous, or have trouble breathing, take the mask off.”

On the Washington Department of Health’s website guidance for wildfires, it is made clear that “masks are not approved for children” and that “it is harder to breathe through a mask, so take breaks often if you work outside.” The Sacramento County Department of Health Services states, “N95 respirator can make it more difficult for the wearer to breathe due to carbon dioxide buildup, which reduces the intake of oxygen, increased breathing rates, and heart rates.”

Just a year ago, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky swatted down the idea of wearing N95s. “They’re very hard to breathe in when you wear them properly,” Walensky said. “They’re very hard to tolerate when you wear them for long periods of time.”

Thus, whether we are talking about masks or N95s, it’s quite evident that they are either unsafe or ineffective. They can often be both unsafe and ineffective, but they can never be effective without being unsafe, unless worn by the right person with the right training in limited environments for short periods of time.

I treat this like I treated the swine flu. I read the headline and move on - ignoring the story.

Except I’m willing to post to say that because of the nuttery of our government (and others) regarding this whole thing.

N95 makers were not making the money they thought they would so now............ Anyone CAN put one on. But making users wear them correctly.........................?

I have worn respirators most of my life. From working on the farm, to hazmat.

If you are not fitted for a respirator, they may not provide protection. Even if you are, if you are not trained on donning and doffing, it isn’t going to work.

For several locations I had to use a respirator for particulate protection. Particulates are small particles of material, several orders of magnitude larger than viruses.

For silica dust, N95’s were explicitly banned as not being tight enough. We had to use N100, often in stages, and half or full face respirators. If you wear one of these and have reduced lung capacity, you will pass out or die. If you have facial hair, you will not have a good seal.

I could go on.

A joke in Hazmat is in dealing with an acid atmosphere, you will know where the leaks are.

If they aren’t fit tested, they are worthless.

QFT:

“They can often be both unsafe and ineffective, but they can never be effective without being unsafe, unless worn by the right person with the right training in limited environments for short periods of time.”

Excellent summary line - I’m not an Industrial Hygienist but the safety training I have had totally aligns with that statement. I attempted to point this reality out to a very smug Covidian who objected to my maskless condition while wearing her KN95 with full confidence of being virus-proof because she “followed the science”.

Before I retired, I had to wear one in certain departments, sometimes all day, because of dangerous chemicals. We were trained on wearing and fitting them and had to remove them every two hours. Depending on the department, sometimes we had to use a new one every two hours. Some departments required air packs with tanks worn on the back and an enclosed helmet. I didn’t work in those departments. With my asthma, I wasn’t allowed near them.

This global psyops isn’t being run by amateurs. They get the various populations accustomed to gradually more ridiculous demands a bit at a time, with breaks in between. Cloth masks got people trained to the requirement—and now they are raising the standard to getting people to wear whatever the government and China require of and/or provide them. God knows what’s on those things now or in the future!

I don’t consider an N95 mask to be a respirator. All of us that use then in a trade call them Dust Masks. I believe up until 2020, 3M called them particulate masks.

Spray painters wear respirators with silicone frame for an air tight against the face and replaceable filter cartridges.

N95 works as well on the Fauci Virus as a tennis racquet works for shoveling sand.

"Before I retired, I had to wear one in certain departments, sometimes all day, because of dangerous chemicals. We were trained on wearing and fitting them and had to remove them every two hours."

Before they relocated to Ft. Leonard Wood in MO, the Army's Military Police and Chemical schools were at Ft. McClellan, AL. When I was a student at the MP Officer Advanced Course, we got (had?) to go through the Chemical Defense Training Facility (CDTF) where live chemical weapons were used in order to train with detection and decontamination equipment.

Needless to say there was a lot of prep one must go through in order enter, including giving a blood sample to be used as a baseline for evaluation in case one was accidentally exposed. We were all thoroughly indoctrinated with the list of symptoms to be watchful for after attending the training and advised to get to the post hospital at the first sign of onset. One of these symptoms was headaches.

The only problem with listing that as a symptom was that every student was going to develop headaches because it was a natural impulse to cinch your protective mask on as tight as you possibly could.

We’ve been using clip on plastic sheilds that attach to our earpiece on our glasses since probably month 2 of the SHAMdemic. No face diapers except at the med facilities. So, LOTS of free air circulating around them. Oh, and probably germs too. “NON GMO” vaxxed and both had minor colds over the past almost 2 years. Tested twice for me (neg)prior to med procedures and Mrs rktman once prior to gall blabber removal. Also neg. And we’ve been in big crowds of people we don’t know. The usual vitamins and supplements daily for years so............ Maybe just lucky? More likely blessed.

At the Senate hearing taking place, right now, w/Sen Ron Johnson and actual, REAL docs/covid experts....Steve Kirsch just explained the INEFFECTIVENESS of masks....up to and including P-100 (respirators).

Throw away your masks, Karens.

You’ve been manipulated by your lord FRAUDci.

I kind of liked SCBA’s.

Clean, cool air. No smell, and you got to pretend you are Darth Vadar.

Of course, if you lost track of time that dang bell would go off and then it was head to the exits to get a new tank. But lung capacity was not something I lacked.
