What two years of COVID should have taught people by now is that bureaucracies can never be trusted to police themselves for our protection.
Two years ago, how many people would have predicted that tennis's number one ranked player would be banned from competing in Australia and France for refusing to allow their governments to decide what is injected into his body? How many people would have predicted the construction of internment camps to house citizens who similarly refuse to comply? How many would have predicted that national leaders of "democratic" countries would demand censorship of dissenting points of view? How many would have predicted that tech and media companies would eagerly jump at those calls for censorship by actively deleting from the public square any voices contrary to the official narratives sanctioned by those in power?
Whatever threat to human health the China Virus poses, it has been dwarfed by the threats to peace, stability, and freedom caused by two years of government tyranny run amok. For people who either never experienced the authoritarianism practiced by dictatorships abroad or stubbornly believed that the "leaders" of "free" nations would be somehow immune to the corrupting influence of power, these two years have hopefully been a wake-up call. If and when we get on the other side of this COVID-1984 war against citizens, "never again," must take on a new, additional meaning that includes peoples' resolute promise never to allow their governments to embrace totalitarianism in the names of "health" and "security." Take this shameful moment in the history of nation-states once committed to liberty and use it to advantage by teaching your children and grandchildren how quickly freedom can be smothered by politicians and bureaucrats with "the best of intentions."

We learned that not only were the repressive measures useless, but everyone pushing them was a bald-faced liar. They achieved their goal and removed Trump in 2020.
Some still don’t want to believe it.
Saul Alinksy said, “The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the Revolution”. Which means that the Left doesn’t care about civil rights, gay rights, feminism, or healthcare. Those issues mean nothing to the Left. The Left wants a communist revolution and they will get it any way they can.
For our side, I think we should remember that “The problem is never the problem. The problem is always too much government”. Whatever “problem” is being discussed from a health crisis, police brutality, or pollution, the “problem” ought to always be a secondary concern at best. The real problem we ought to always keep our eye on, is encroaching tyrannical government. It never makes anything better. If you see a problem, you can try to solve the problem, but Priority Number One should always be to keep government small.

That would take organization . There is no “we” unless the willing (to take matters to a conclusion) are up and ready.
If we’d just stuck to our Constitutional guarantees here in the US, none of this would have happened. This has been a massive violation of rights, both human rights and civil rights, and we … and the courts, on this few occasions it was challenged….just let it happen.
But the author is right, people were terrified by the propaganda and just let themselves be stripped of all their rights and even their humanity in the name of “protection.”
Covid is winding down and now they’re gearing up for “climate change,” and even worse, have quietly put a lot of the infrastructure of repression into place during the last couple of years.
They’re going to come back for round two and I only hope that people will wake up and be ready for it. There should be legal challenges coming and there should be a national movement against tyranny like this ever being imposed on us again.

Never again? It hasn’t stopped. In Chicago the Health Department Gestapo can shut down a family owned business and drive it into bankruptcy over stupid face masks.
The Chicago Health Department never had this level of authority before Covid. Now some low level city worker who sits in a cube has more authority than any elected official.

The number one tennis player who has already had the virus is not allowed to defend his title.

It’s not over. This reaction was for a virus that killed less than 1/10th of 1 percent of the worlds’ population. That mostly targeted as crude as it sounds mostly those who may have died within the year anyhow. Now imagine something really consequential.
