With over 82,600 views and 5,400 likes, the video of a "flying" deer has taken the internet by storm, fueling much interest among wildlife loving netizens.

Oh Deer!

A 30-second clip of a deer taking a giant leap, about 7 feet into the air to cross a road, is leaving netizens awe-struck. The video was posted on the "WildLense Eco Foundation" Twitter account.

The video shows a deer emerging from a roadside before leaping across the dirt track in slow motion before safely landing on the other side and running off into the wilderness.

“And the gold medal for long & high jump goes to…….,” the Twitter user captioned the video.

Netizens can't believe their eyes, with scores leaving comments.

While one user said the deer should get a gold medal for long and high jump, another wrote, "Me jumping into one problem and landing into another."

That’s a very impressive jump! He saw the man standing there with a phone, so he left. A fight or flight response.
It looks like a juvenile deer, still somewhat a Fawn, with the white spots showing on his back.

One place where I worked, I used to park in the back corner of the parking lot. The surrounding area was wooded, with lots of trees, and there was a chain-link fence within that tree line, delineating the property. If you looked through it, you could see housing on the other side of the wooded area, so it was essentially a buffer between the residential and commercial areas, with maybe 100-150 feet of woodland and trees separating the two.

It was not uncommon to see deer and turkeys in our parking lot. One summer afternoon, I went to my car to leave, and there was a doe standing next to the fence. She got spooked by me and, from a standstill, leaped OVER THE FENCE. I think the hooves might have touched the top of the fence at the apex of her jump, but I don't remember for certain. It was quite an impressive display of power.

Maybe there's some truth to this whole Santa myth after all!

I’ve seen deer do some acrobatics. Not just high jumps, but also jumping between strands of barbed wire at high speed. Wouldn’t believe if I hadn’t seen it.

Gardeners around here know that some deer can clear an 8 foot fence.

If this was shot in India as the post seemed to indicate, then it's probably an axis deer who's spots never go away.

Usually if I see a flying deer it’s just been bounced off the front of a truck onto my car coming the other way.

And that’s why fencing to keep deer out of your garden doesn’t work. There’s something you can do with peanut butter and fishing line but I forget what it is.

Had a deer jump over the front of my car while I was driving.

It was amazing. Had to be 8 ft into the air!

In a nearby town there is a wildlife sanctuary. The sanctuary is about 6-7 miles from from rural land and cordoned off from that rural area by interstate highway and 6+’ chainlink.

At the far end of the sanctuary, in a forested fenced off cloverleaf downtown, there is always a small group of deer hiding. They fly over that fence whenever they want and seem to understand that it doesnt hinder them at all, just you.

We have a 7’ deer farm law, doesnt stop wild visitors or disgruntled residents from coming and going either.

This reminds me of an experience I had on a school bus in East Texas when I was in high school in the 1960’s.
Our bus was traveling on a one lane dirt road out in the country when a deer came bounding across the pasture from the left, cleared a barbed wire fence, cleared the hood of the bus (we almost hit it!), and over the fence on the right side, to land in the right pasture and keep running like the devil was after him.

Have not seen it in person but I have seen the evidence of vanishing deer on highways. In a split second they vanish into a pink mist to escape oncoming semi trucks. The mist stains the road for 100 yards.

Treading water motions helped the Deer to stay afloat longer.
He wasn’t still and passive like a launched cannonball.
