Experts are keeping a wary eye on yet another COVID-19 variant, this one with 46 mutations.
It was detected in France and showed up in a traveler who recently arrived from a three-day stay in Cameroon, French researchers said in a pre-print study published on medRxiv, which means it has not yet been peer-reviewed.
While researchers were monitoring the strain to ascertain how infectious it is or whether it poses a danger, experts emphasized that its discovery alone was not cause for alarm. Moreover, it was noted even before omicron took over the world stage and “has been on our radar,” WHO incident manager on COVID Abdi Mahamud said at a press briefing in Geneva on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg. “That virus had a lot of chances to pick up.”
So far, indications are that it hasn’t. But it did manage to infect 12 people in Marseille, in southeastern France.
The 46 mutations had not been detected in other countries, The Independent noted.
The person infected with the B.1.640.2 variant, dubbed IHU after being discovered by scientists at the IHU Mediterranee Infection, was fully vaccinated and had just returned from a three-day trip to Cameroon when they tested positive, the researchers said.

IHU VARIANT: WHAT IS KNOWN SO FAR...
According to health officials, the variant has a total of 46 mutations.
The first case of the variant was identified in a fully vaccinated patient who had just returned from a trip to Cameroon, Africa, according to medical experts.
So far, the IHU variant has infected 12 people in Marseille in southern France.
The variant has not been identified in other countries yet, and the World Health Organization (WHO) has not identified it as a variant of concern such as omicron or delta.
At this time, due to the small amount of cases identified, it is too early to tell if vaccines work against the variant.
The World Health Organization (WHO) is still in the process of investigating the strain to give more clear guidance on how to proceed.
Baskin Robbins only has 31 flavors.
One lesson of history is that we do not learn from history.
The second lesson is that
these lab-engineered killers, once released, go WW.
The third lesson is that in the absence of accountability
the labs and FauXi and Xi and the rest WILL NOT STOP.
Still a little early for the release of the Mandatory Mail In Ballot Variant
Since viruses are so simple and since they claim there are 46 mutations (differences?) that separate IHU from the claimed previous versions of COVID, can this even be said to be COVID and not something entirely new, i.e. one of the many versions of the common cold?
Marseille. Didn’t that used to be a beautiful French city?
Ya load 46 mutations
And what do ya get?
Another new variant
And deeper into lockdown
The I HATE U..virus.
That this virus naturally mutates much like every other respiratory virus provides a clear explanation why a new flu shot comes out each year ... and why there is no “vaccine” for the common cold.
Did the one patient have all 46 variants? Is he a modern-day Typhoid Mbulu?
That is what kills me. No one held accountable. People should be in the streets, well for a myriad of reasons, chief among them, this.
Not to worry, it thinks it is too civilized to go about invading common peoples’ lungs..............
“The World Health Organization (WHO) is still in the process of investigating the strain to give more clear guidance on how to proceed.”
Now THAT’S funny right there.
The USSC had better shut off the tap with their mandates hearings and decision. This story of a new variant is timed exactly for the hearing this Friday. Coincidence? Hardly.
There are millions of so-called “mutations” . They just pick one most likely to spread and start the fear mongering and panic. *yawn*
I thought it was because French is hard to pronounce.
I expect a whole series of variants to arrive, including, but not limited to:
Ekaf
Oxha
which would fall in line with the Omicron (moronic) variant.
