For my job, I come in contact with many people from states where masking is maybe not "mandatory" but heavily and socially encouraged.
The people ask me if they have to wear a mask, and I say no, this is Texas, and I would say the vast majority basically say, thank God.
I’m in CA and in a blue county at that. I travel around CA a lot. I enter stores, hotels, gas stations, wineries, churches, movie theaters, and restaurants maskless. Mostly no one says anything. When an employee in one of those mentions my masklessness, or asks to see a vax card, I comply but just never return. I’m weeding out places that way.
But doctor’s offices and airplanes are different. Less choice there—I don’t want to find new doctors all the time and I still want to travel. So I mask up in those 2 situations.
The heartbreak is the K-12 and college students in CA. Still masked 7 hours a day for 18 months now.
Normalcy begets normalcy and the only way to get out of this permanent “mandatory” masking in CA is to stop masking, little by little, more and more of us.
I’m in Pa. and i only see a hand full. Some still drive around in a car by themselves with a mask on. What a bunch on retards.
Versus a year ago, we never see walkers/bikers in our hilly neighborhood wearing masks.
In the past few weeks, I took my wife’s car and my pickup in for the annual servicing. The manager and none of his people working on vehicles had masks in the outside bay work areas and lifts. Most of the other customers had on masks in the waiting room, and only one commented on me without a mask. I told her she was too smart and nice of a person to worry about useless masks. She smiled and took hers off in a few minutes. An Asian Male had his mask on and was panting after going outside to his vehicle. The manager suggested that he go outside on a bench and take his mask off. The guy did and after about 10 minutes came back into the waiting without his mask. He did stay by the door.
Our grocery stores must be under surveillance as the one I go to requires a mask while in the store and checking out.
The local hospitals in 3 counties will not allow non patients in their hospitals. They mask anyone going into the hospital as a patient.
Some of the counties North/South and East of Gay Frisco are true Nazis re masks. Contra Costa is one of the worse. They seem intent on destroying small business people.
I have a dentist appointment next week and fully expect to get booted.
I lost my job 6 mos ago for refusing a mask and I'm not backing down now.
Granted, I'm 6'1", 235lbs and looking pretty good these days having lost 65lbs.
“ The strange thing is the majority of mask wearers that I do see....are the 30 - 40 yr old (and, younger 😩) group.
To improve appearance 😂
Here in Illinois we seem to be at
peak mask insanity but I
boldly go about my business
totally mask free
especially when attending Mass
none even dare question or even give
me a cross look.

Yes but I am in San Francisco.
Masks required indoors here.
I kept mine off at Costco and breathed freely until I got to self checkout line. An employee asked me to mask up and I complied. I don’t give employees a hard time.
This summer we had our 7 year repair, paint and do whatever on our home. 95% was outside work, and we told every worker to take their masks off. The outside temp was in the 80’s to mid 90’s/
They appreciated no masks.
The painters laughed and kept their masks on while spray painting and off while hand painting.
Went to two stores here in Oregon and asked me to mask and walked out. Normally nobody bothers you.
In the Tucson area, about the only places that require masks are doctors’ offices, and not all of those. You’d think that doctors would be the most likely to know about what cloth masks can and can’t do, but there it is.
A lot of stores still post signs about masks being required for the unvaccinated, but nobody seems to be checking. There are still a lot of idiots wearing masks outdoors.
I never wear a mask anywhere except a doctor’s office if they demand it, and haven’t since near the beginning of the COVID hysteria. Only two non-employee Karens ever said anything. If employees of a store didn’t like my maskless state, I would leave without buying anything and not return.
In entire pandemic I think I had one random person play mask cop on me and I told him to pound sand….
During the early days had a few employees at places say something.. which I was always polite to as they have no choice it’s their job, not their fault their employer does what they do..
But that was only random Karen that tried to “shame” me…
Im about to find out today- gotta go to the post office, znd I’m not wearing one. We,will see what the reaction is.
Dallas TX. no.
BUT
on vacation near Sarasota Florida last year at an outdoor town fair - no signs for masks but some idiot verbally lambasted our group of four saying we were responsible for "killing" people... we tried to use logic then realized it would never work and it was ugly so we decided we'd spent enough money there.
“Neither trip to town inspired me to go again anytime soon.”
You are not by yourself. Most of our food comes from Costco 2 hour delivery, Amazon for non perishables.
We order all types of fresh meat and fish from Costco.
Amazon delivers non perishables at a great price.
I go to our small neighborhood chain store because of their fresh produce , certain frozen products and a top deli/meat counter, where you order what you want from humans.
My wife has a bad hip and between the hip and not wanting to go into any store, she has not been in a store since early summer. That was to a high end discount store to buy greeting cards. She has gift cards from Best Buy, Home Depot and other stores that are going on 2 years old.
Not where we live......they’d have a hard time getting up off the floor. Thank goodness we live in an area of like minds that won’t put up with Karen’s and idiot do-gooders that put their noses where they don’t belong.......GOD BLESS TEXAS!!!
Required at work to wear a mask. Forgot it at the team meeting. Took my jacket off they saw how cut I am. They all forgot too.
California instituted a new mask mandate to cover Dec 15 thru Jan 15.
I went to a book signing at a wine tasting venue in Dana Point last night and NOBODY was wearing a mask.
This was a fairly liberal crowd and not a single person said anything about masks.
A local adult beverage place has a sign on the door “Caution: freedom zone inside” All through the pandemic there were no masks inside. Not by customers, not by staff. Never heard of them getting reported or fined even when there were mandates.
About the time school started, an indoor mask requirement was put in place. He did not comply. No problem from profs/admin (even some support) but he did get flack from fellow students. Pleas to wear a mask so they wouldn't have to go to online classes, straight up "you need to wear a mask," dirty looks. Not from all but some. I told him they were probably from Seattle or Portland - ha.
The school also put in place a testing requirement - everyone takes a COVID test every 2 weeks. He said no.
Now they've relaxed their mask mandate and everything is fine. He's lived his life in a normal fashion in the mean time.
