In an effort to limit greenhouse gas emissions, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) voted this month to ban the sale of new off-road engines such as those found in leaf blowers, lawn mowers and other equipment by 2024. The ruling also bans portable generators by requiring new models to meet more stringent standards in 2024 and meet zero-emission standards starting in 2028.

Now... if anyone is wondering why this matters to anyone outside of California, please consider the cost and reliability of lawn mowers you buy from your local hardware store.
More specifically, I’ve noticed over recent years that you simply cannot find a lawn mower where you can control the choke of the engine. It’s all internal and automatic. If your mower wont start, you have to take it in... or replace it.
Why??? because California sets the standard pretty much on how engines like this are built.... and how “Efficient” they are, or how “Green” they are.
Manufacturers have bent over Back Asswards at EVERYONE ELSES expense so that their products would not be shut out of the CA market.
The end result is we cannot buy a decent mower anymore... NOWHERE!... So now that California has pretty much told those same manufacturers to take a hike, I have this to say to the manufacturers...
“Happy NOW??????” Why don’t you start building some DECENT lawn mower machines again???... let CA figure it out for themselves and STOP SELLING EVERYONE ELSE CRAP MOWERS!!!
They want you dead. It is the only answer.

2500 bucks just to get the proper hookup; if you want a whole house generator, be prepared to fork over 12 grand...
EGO........ the company exterminates the two cycle engine by providing 56 volt battery powered equipment that is in fact superior to that is replaced
No longer must I cuss the two cycle engine that refuses to start. No longer do I have to mix special gasoline that goes bad between seasons.
I have several of the EGO tools and am rlieved of the two cycle monsters

Get a wood gasification generator.
Cheap, extremely powerful, and put out a giant cloud of smog.
Be legal, too.

Yeah, EGO... works great for folks on 1/4 acre lots. Yep. Nothing I’d like more than having to take 3 weekends to mow my acreage. We’re really winning now!
