The liquid causing the most damage to your liver may not actually be booze, according to a new study. It’s soda.
In the new paper (a collaboration between multiple Massachusetts universities), entitled “Sugar-Sweetened Beverage, Diet Soda, and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Over 6 Years: The Framingham Heart Study,” researchers looked at the average sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) or diet soda consumption of participants from the long-running Framingham Heart Study, which began in 1948. The new research examined 1,636 descendants of the original study, both offspring and third generation.
As the health site Eat This Not That! explains, researchers then weighed these soda self-reports against the incidence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, a condition that affects one in four Americans. As the Mayo Clinic notes, “Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is an umbrella term for a range of liver conditions affecting people who drink little to no alcohol. As the name implies, the main characteristic of NAFLD is too much fat stored in liver cells.” Fatigue and pain are common symptoms, but advanced scarring (cirrhosis) and liver failure are also possibilities.

It seems I read somewhere that coconut juice was an excellent liver cleaner...
You can always drop a caffeine pill into a glass of club soda.
Ah, I was wondering if there was any difference between the two for I don’t know how long.
We should go into business together then. I bet it would be a huge smashing failure.
Pretty sure you're good then. 👍🏻
leafy veggies mostly..not really acid but NOT alkaline.
My AA sponsor always said “No!”.
Selzer with lemon or lime. YUM.
40 years ago I tried to get use to diet soda cuz my friends all drank it. Couldn’t do it. All I could taste were the chemicals.
Stevia the same. Not sweet at all.
Coffee to beer is a daily routine.
Pretty useless without a BMI attachment to gauge
the effect with in my opinion.
Every article I’ve followed from Cleveland Clinic
studies mention the weight problems directly.
The skinny rats live longer.
Stevia has a funny taste to me.
I can’t stand artificial sweeteners.
I don’t think artificial sweeteners are going to help you. It’s still going to trigger the insulin response in your body. Maybe try cinnamon.
Is it perhaps the CO2 ib the soda that does the liver damage?
zucchini, okra, gourds, egg plant
Unlikely, no, absolutely NOT, and NOT ON YOUR LIFE!
Every one of those create a very strong gag reflex. I’ll eat plantains raw before I try any of those again.
You can have my share.
Same here. Pink blue and yellow packets. Made me sick. Caffeine free. Zero coke. No thanks. Rarely drank soda either. Something didn’t feel right. On the other hand lots of tea and coffee and sugar and salt and eggs and orange juice and bacon. Yeah I was considered incorrigible as a kid.

I gave up drinking booze in 1989. My liver has been quite content since. Screw the lying MSM pigs.
Cook them India style...they are delicious.
Go to a high end India restaurant and try the veggies.
I gag on all American style cooked veggies.
No wonder American kids hate veggies.
Just boiled carrots?
Boiled and mashed potatoes? (at least can add gobs of butter to make it palatable)
Worse of all is spinach cooked American style.
I avoid high fructose corn syrup like the plague. My cholesterol dropped when I got away from the stuff. The bad news is I drink diet soda pop all the time.
