20 Movies So Bad, They're Actually Really Good
Some movies are so terrible that they come full circle and become good again. Which is the best.

For the most part, I don’t buy the premise that movies can be so bad, they’re actually good. If a movie’s good, isn’t it just...good? There’s no question, however, that movies can succeed by failing. Ed Wood is an extreme-but-perfect example of a filmmaker who never achieved precisely what he set out to do with any of his movies, but who nonetheless made cinematic magic out of enthusiasm, shamelessness, and no small measure of self-delusion. That kind of thing is always better than something like Sharknado—a movie that’s fun, but that works so hard to achieve silliness that you can see the flop sweat. Other, more enjoyable (better?) “bad” movies get there quite by accident.
For me, I’d almost always rather watch an interesting failure than a boring success—sometimes because passion is contagious, and just as often because a true WTF-level debacle is a rare and glorious thing. Here are 20 of them.

There was a period of time when my children undertook “mashups” with the audio of one movie over the video of another. For example a Disney cartoon for audio, and Coen Brothers film for video (or vise versa). At times the result was side-splittingly funny.

Xanadu starred Gene Kelly and Olivia Newton John. Also a soundtrack featuring ELO. Yes it was all terrible, but ONJ could read the phone book to me and I'd watch. Easily the nicest, most beautiful celebrity I've met.

One of the worst movies I ever saw was “Witches” or “Witchcraft Through the Ages,” a Scandinavian documentary from 1922. It was so bad that it was hilariously funny, and the audience in the theater was roaring with laughter.

When I saw the 1984 Dune version I liked it but thought if you did not read the book you'd be totally confused. I had a friend who proved me wrong. It provided him the excuse to watch it many times to catch details he missed.
Missing from the list is the Box Office Bomb 'Last Action Hero' . If you see it as a satire of Action Films it's actually pretty funny. Istar , another box office bomb I watched simply because it bombed earned its fail and then some. Istar made me feel embarrassed for the otherwise talented people who made it.
