Blue States, You’re the Problem. Why do states with Democratic majorities fail to live up to their values? (NYT)
NYT ^ | 11 10 2021 | Johnny Harris and Binyamin Appelbaum

It’s easy to blame the other side. And for many Democrats, it’s obvious that Republicans are thwarting progress toward a more equal society.

But what happens when Republicans aren’t standing in the way?

In many states — including California, New York and Illinois — Democrats control all the levers of power. They run the government. They write the laws. And as we explore in the video above, they often aren’t living up to their values.

In key respects, many blue states are actually doing worse than red states. It is in the blue states where affordable housing is often hardest to find, there are some of the most acute disparities in education funding and economic inequality is increasing most quickly.

Instead of asking, “What’s the matter with Kansas?” Democrats need to spend more time pondering, “What’s the matter with California?”

After decades of blaming Republicans, Democrats finally admit their policies and 'solutions' are the source of social, political, and economic problems.

This would have been a useful article a few decades ago.

Yeah Conservatives figured that out a long time ago

Liberals/lefties/Socialists/Communists/Democrats are absolutely bereft of any sense of reality. Their world consists of all of the voices in their heads clamoring for attention - and these voices are not rational, logical, realistic, or friendly. As Michael Savage said, “Liberalism is a mental disorder.”

Interesting piece. If there is an underlying commonality to the examples cited it is that progressives generally are incapable of deciding when a particular social experiment has failed, inevitably doubling down on failure and defending the precepts by apportioning the blame elsewhere. When educational theory produces a society of illiterates and law enforcement theory creates streets that are unsafe in broad daylight, the experiment has failed and will continue to fail until someone puts a stop to it. And until that happens you have a New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Baltimore, Detroit...I need not go on.

It seems that Liberal eyes are actually starting to open as well.

Have been enjoying the reactions on this Twitter thread immensely:

Democratic majorities don’t
“live up to their values” because they don’t have values as the term is usually understood.

I look at Metro Detroit local newscasts and what do I see? I see a lot of perpetual image rehab going on. It’s always “The Big Comeback” and that the next “Renaissance” is close at hand (just you wait and see). The viewing areas of some of these stations extend well beyond the city itself, but they really go out of their way to make you believe that “After all, we’re ALL Detroiters!”...and that’s even if you live 60 miles north of Eight Mile Road!

As if Flint is an improvement ...

Kidding a bit.

Michigan is a beautiful state with a few awful regions.

Still loaded with Leftist propaganda like claiming that Blue states provide more opportunities for the poor to climb the economic ladder than Red states…….uhhhh no they don’t……not even close in fact.

But yes, their hypocrisy is overwhelming. They didn’t even mention that California is THE most economically stratified state which is the exact opposite outcome from what they claim they want.

Democrat majorities don’t want equality of opportunity, they want equity of results. There is only one way this has ever been achieved - equal distribution of poverty. That is, the poverty is equally distributed among the masses, the wealth that remains is taken by the ruling elites. Even there, it’s not evenly distributed. The most corrupt get the most of the dwindling wealth. The process inevitably concludes in failure.

New York has terrible family values. I can think of two prominent New Yorkers or former New Yorkers on their third marriage.

Actually the south has higher divorce rates. New York has the fifth LOWEST divorce rate: https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/divorce-rate-by-state.

Same here with CT—wonderful place as long as you stay out of the cities and the inner suburbs.

People unfamiliar with the area are stunned when they see the rural areas for the first time.

"Michigan is a beautiful state with a few awful regions."

"Detroit, Michigan was among the first to install racist roads, highways, freeways, bridges, railroads, etc..."

I wouldn't be surprised if that's part of the statewide CRT curriculum.
