1,000 nuclear warheads by 2030
The updated estimate marks a dramatic increase from the projection reported in last year’s China Military Power report, which placed the tally around 400 warheads within a decade.
Washington has previously called on China to join the U.S. and Russia in a new arms control treaty.
The report also raises concerns over Beijing’s increasingly aggressive behavior toward Taiwan.
“The historical task of the complete reunification of the motherland must be fulfilled and will definitely be fulfilled,” Xi said in an October 8 address.

Paid for by the enormous US trade surplus they enjoy thanks to the Free Trade cult.
Give taiwan nukes
Gen. MIlley approves this message.
Does China use the correct DIY pronouns for the phenotypically-deranged?
That’s all that matters.
With starvation and economic woes on the horizon Xi needs a war. Unfortunately Taiwan could very well be too big a pill to swallow. China could eventually take Taiwan. But the cost would be huge. The military losses would make China very vulnerable to India. Never forget India. India can cut off China’s oil imports very easily. This would bring China’s military to a screeching halt.
shocking!
why?
India is a big deal, I have said it since GWB was in office.
So is BiXiden’s favorite, Iran [from the zer0th level].
Thank you, Brandon.
Oh yes indeed. They have Gurkhas.
Does Biden know?
Back when I was a young pup I actually believed people were fairly smart and would not do stupid things that end up hurting themselves.
Now with age (and a Graduate of the school of hard knocks) I understand everyone can and will be irrational at times.
The leadership in China has made some mistakes which will cost him his job (if not his life). Going to war over Taiwan is both irrational and pointless. Thinking of using nuclear weapons is just insane.
So while it is irrational and insane it is possible the Xi could consider using Nukes.
However, there is a rough sort of Check and Balance in China. The Military, those that actually control those nukes may not wish to die when several nations retaliates against China.
It’s OK because General Milley (General Insurance) said everything is Okie Dokie..
Taken from the 45 planks of the communist manifesto:
1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.
2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.
3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.
4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.
6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.
7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.
9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.
34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.
And Japan and S. Korea. Aus? No. I DON’T trust the tyrannical misfits running that country. Kanadahar (Canada)? HECK, NO! Castro’s brother to the SE and Castro’s spawn to the North! Not just NO, but HE!! NO!
No problem-o. Just tell the Cadaver-in-Xief the problem and he can rein the chins in. He’s got ‘em on a string, you know. Of course the string is tied around the cadaver’s nuts.
For example, the remaining US Minuteman fleet has 400 strategic nukes (was closer to 2,000 when I worked them). The USAF also maintains air deliverable warheads. The navy has nuclear torpedoes, SLBMs with 10 warheads each, and had nuclear depth charges. The army had tactical missile nukes, demolition nukes and nuke landmines.
They all pose different threats but are broad-brushed as nuclear weapons. The ICBM and SLBM nukes are capable of devastating the continental US.
Tactical nukes are for theater level or special application warfare, say against Taiwan or Japan.
