A Japanese start-up is hoping to convince motorists to swap their cars for a $680,000 (£495,000) hoverbike.
ALI Technologies' XTurismo Limited Edition went on sale in Japan, earlier on Wednesday.
Electronics giant Mitsubishi and footballer Keisuke Honda are two backers of the Tokyo-based company.
ALI Technologies says the hoverbike can fly for 40 minutes at up to 100km/h (62mph) on a single charge.
The company aims to have manufactured 200 single-rider 300kg (47-stone) hoverbikes by mid-2022.
Each is equipped with a conventional engine and four battery-powered motors.

I can see a niche for that type of transportation as airborne, off road ATV's. Expensive now but like everything else, the price will come down as the technology is refined and the demand goes up.
In another article on this vehicle, it stated a pilot's license would likely be required. Leave it to the govt. to screw things up.

I think you mean the AAJ, but yes, they most certainly are. Regular, ground-based ATVs are already a pretty big source of plaintiff’s verdicts.
To: Regulator
Lol. Just try to find someplace to fly it. $680K for a hangar queen.

ALI Technologies says the hoverbike can fly for 40 minutes at up to 100km/h (62mph) on a single charge. Given all of the other attempts in this arena with lift provided only by fans have resulted in ~10 minute flight times, I'll believe 40 minutes when I see it.
But it sure looks cool!
