Woman Spends Night in Jail After Refusing to Leave Daughter's Side at Hospital

A Florida woman has spent the night in jail after refusing to leave her daughter's side at the hospital.

"I stand by my actions 100%. I am not sorry that I made them take me out of there in handcuffs," Lynn Savage told WJAX-TV.

Savage refused to leave her daughter's side while she was recovering from brain surgery at the University of Florida Health North. She said her daughter is non-verbal and was partially paralyzed after suffering from a stroke.

"I could not in good conscience and good heart leave her bedside not knowing how she was going to make it through the night voluntarily," Savage said.

The 70-year-old great-grandmother said she needed to be there to help her daughter remain calm and to interpret.

"The nurse said that the visiting hours were over at 7 p.m. and I had to leave and I said, 'I’m not going to leave. I want to stay here with my daughter. Can you call the doctor because the doctor is the one that wanted me here with her?' And she said no that they couldn’t do that, that COVID rules said that visiting hours were over at 7 p.m.," Savage said.

An arrest report says security spent hours pleading for Savage to leave before arresting her. She spent about 24 hours in jail.

"Not an experience that I would ever want to do again for the rest of my life not ever. It was horrible. It was filthy, it was more like an insane asylum with the women screaming and hollering and banging on bars and banging on walls. It was just terrifying, but I would rather be there than know that I had walked away from my daughter," she said.

She was booked for trespassing. Her daughter made it through the night but is still recovering.

Sometimes, law enforcement and security people need to look the other way. This seems to be one of them unless there is more to the story.

I have a friend with two Autistic children. One non verbal, one very limited. They need to taze her to get her out of the room. There needs to be a little common sense involved in these decisions sometimes.

It’s a tradition in my clan to avoid hospitals whenever and however possible. Those who didn’t - their horror stories are recorded and passed down.
Doctors love to flex their muscles.

You should never leave a family member alone at a hospital. Nurses get distracted and make mistakes that can kill or cripple a patient.
Having someone there to run screaming to the nurse station saying that the patient is in distress might save their life.
Otherwise, you can do little things to make them more comfortable.
Most hospitals I have been in, as a patient and as a family member, made provision to allow for this. At least one provided a bed. In the rest, you had to sleep in uncomfortable chairs.

don’t blame the security personnel. they don’t like it either. This is strictly Administration, including the Board of Directors. Being a university hospital all of senior management must very Democrats to the bone. the woke ones. The ones who will go to great lengths to prove they are woke and not part of the ‘other’ side.

While recovering from kidney surgery my wife stayed by my side, the nurses looked the other way, breaking hospital rules, it was a true act of kindness

Nurse Ratchet wanted her gone for the night so she could sit on her arse eating chips and watching telly.

The good nurses welcome family members tending their own, it lightens their burden.

The lazy, venal ones want you to leave, so they can ignore your family member. They also aren’t smart nor have much empathy or they would have figured out what the good nurses already know.

There should be a poll put together the approval rating of nurses, doctors and medical “professionals”. I think the results would be shocking.

Is there ANYTHING CovidBS-19 can’t do? It’s almost like it’s a magical little virus! Or maybe it’s as smart as a Movie Star?

*SNORT*

Poor Lady. I’d do the same. Haven’t been to jail - yet. I’m sure the Socialist assigned to monitor my Permanent File has a page set aside just for THAT entry, LOL!

Effing Jerks.
