“The Wire’’ actor Michael K. Williams was found dead of a suspected drug overdose in his Brooklyn penthouse Monday afternoon, law-enforcement sources told The Post.
Drug paraphernalia was found in the five-time Emmy nominee’s apartment, suggesting the acclaimed 54-year-old actor may have fatally OD’d, possibly from heroin or fentanyl, sources said.

He said it regarding motorcycle riding. Your mileage may vary if you take it as allegory.
Williams was 55-ish. You’d think a person would outgrow hard drugs or die by 40.
How many people are dead from this show now? This druggie, Melvin Williams, Reg Cathey, Robert Hogan, Wire co-creator Robert Colesberry, also Nathan Barksdale, who inspired some of the characters died in prison.
And if you count #1 fanboy Anthony Bourdain, The Wire's death count is fast approaching a dozen.
the middle guy in the back was on Bosch as his partner. I dont think he is in the spin off.
Just watched the third to the last episode of the last season two nights ago and saw the shocking, unexpected event that he was involved with. Talk about weird timing.
Tonight is the series finale. I’ll definitely be watching this show again. One of the best — right up there with Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Deadwood, and Boardwalk Empire.
Michael K. Williams was one of the best. What a loss.
Sonja Sohn Was just arrested in 2019 on drug-related charges. Hopefully, she’ll overcome the monster and not be the next casualty of the show.
I agree. We shouldnt forget that other entities want us dead too.
I never watched Deadwood.
The final Season of Boardwalk Empire was simply horrific. They totally rushed it all. Likely the few ‘Stars’ were becoming impatient with the time commitments. Worst final Season ever.
Sopranos and Breaking Bad were by far the best that HBO has ever done. Well, Breaking Bad was not HBO, but it was still great.
Can those of us long-timers with long memories even recall a suspended sentence longer than one year? My corner of paradise, the common sentence for a druggie like Ms. "Snoop" was 3 years on "The Farm" with 1 year suspended IF compliance was met, and 5 years probation afterwards, with upwards of 90% recidivism, and then a full 15-year imprisonment upon the inevitable relapse into dealing.
Flash forward to the Brave New Century and all a DEA bust does is give this nutter street cred. No, sorry, there are plenty of stories that don't need to be told but rather need to be buried under a large body of water or atomized by a meteor, and The Wire was one of those "stories".
He “Floyd’ed himself”
“you are an idiot if you do fentanyl”
Apparently, fentanyl is something that gets added to other drugs to make it seem like they’re better, or more pure, than they really are. The problem is, people mixing cheap, poor value drugs with fentanyl have no idea how strong the fentanyl is or how much of it to mix. I gather just inhaling the dust from strong fentanyl can cause an overdose. So, how much do you add and with what kind of measure? The amount that would cover the head of a pin can be fatal...or, a lot more if it’s diluted can barely have any effect. The people doing this are often barely literate, so expecting any kind of quality control is optimistic. Then there’s the problem with how do you mix it in so that the user doesn’t run into a bit that’s almost pure fentanyl?
Long Story Short: Don’t do drugs kids!
If you DO do drugs, stuck with alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine!

That seemed to be the rule for multiyear TV series now !
Great couple of years, final year a train wreck.
May I suggest an amendment?
“You are an idiot if you use recreational drugs.”
The show used a lot of actors from the real life drug and crime worlds, so the surprise may be that more of them haven't died, but before today the deaths were from cancer, heart disease and pneumonia.
“You are an idiot if you use recreational drugs.”
Yeah, that'll work.
China’s fentanyl assault on America is working!
Being an addict is more like a job, though I guess it does start out as recreational.
I know. I guess they felt they had to end it with you know who killing you know who and with a moral lesson, but it was all botched and unsatisfying.
