Two toddlers were attacked by a coyote in separate incidents in Arlington, officials say.
The first attack was reported at about 5:40 p.m. Sunday when a 2-year-old girl in her Epping Street yard was approached, bitten on the back and dragged by a coyote.
About 10 minutes later another 2-year-old female was approached by the coyote in her yard in Summer Hill Circle and scratched.
Both children were taken to an area hospital for evaluation. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Arlington is about 7 miles northwest of Boston.
Officials believe that the same coyote was involved in both incidents. They are now trying to locate the coyote.
Last month a 5-year-old boy was playing in a sandbox on Cutler Hill Road in Arlington when he was bitten by a coyote.

These damn things have shown up over the years out on Long Island. I wonder how they manage getting through all that traffic on the LIE.

The Eastern coyotes have bred with the wolves and are more wolf-like, unlike the scrawny fleabags we have out West
Though they seem to be heard more at night, they are not strictly nocturnal. They said, it’s safe to presume they are at least carrying rabies.
In that area if any of your neighbors even *think* you have a weapon in your home you and your family will be ostracized. Your kids will have no one to play with. You’ll have no friends.
I hate to admit being from MA. Was there til age 19, then FL for 25 years and now in MO. My family lines go back to the Mayflower Passengers aka Separatists. Got ancestors that fought in every war since the Indian wars. How far we’ve fallen.
Yep. We have year round open season.
When we vacationed on the Cape with young children many years ago we were warned about the coyotes. That was 20 years ago.

When my wife and I first moved into a place in the backwoods of Alabama, our trashcan kept getting raided at the end of our driveway, about 50 yards from the house. At that range an M-1 carbine with 110 grain soft points proved devastatingly effective on them.

Not at all. Coyotes are out during the day a lot. Where I used to play golf we’d see four at time hunting gophers in the deep rough regularly. They would line up abreast and trot through the rough with the heads swiveling trying to scare up some food. Same at the ranch, plenty of daytime sightings.
But you will be spared having to interact with such undesirables.
Then they deserve what happens to them.
Yes. So many choices. Coyotes aren’t all that big. 22mag will do nicely as well. But to leave no evidence 50BMG is recommended. Lol.
A cayote can easily outrun jammed up rush hour traffic. Besides, they're cute.
Rabid?
A friend of mine in SC was checking his trail camera. He said there were several toddlers playing in their back yard nearby. He saw something out of the corner of his eye and turned as a coyote was charging him. He battled the critter for a good while and eventually stomped it to death.
He decided nobody would believe him, so he went to his truck to get his phone to take a picture. He also got his hunting knife.
When he got back to the trail camera, the coyote was gone. He saw it charging down the hill at him again. He stomped it to death a second time. This time he slashed the twice-dead critter’s throat and tied it up in a tree so other animals wouldn’t eat it. He called animal control.
They verified the animal was rabid. They decided his scratches did not endanger him. He is all better now. We changed my friend’s name to Killer Of Coyotes.
He no longer will enter a wooded area without his gun and a big knife.
