Extreme cold weather found to be linked to global warming

A study has found that extreme cold weather is probably caused by the stretching of the polar vortex in the stratosphere, which results from global warming.

Scientists have discovered that recent cold weather extremes may be linked to global warming, a study published in Science said on Thursday.

Human-caused global warming was expected to lead to more heatwaves and heavy precipitation events, but the increase in cold air outbreaks and heavy snowfalls, most recently in January and February of 2021 in Asia, Europe and the United States, surprised the scientists, leading them to research the connection between extreme cold weather and global warming.

One of the key manifestations of global warming is Arctic warming, otherwise known as Arctic amplification (AA) which causes sea ice to decrease. Because the decline in sea ice increases moisture in the air, AA ultimately leads to heavy snowfall in the Arctic.

The Left , having taken over the education of our nations youth, has led them to believe that any weather that is even a little extreme is the result of human activity. Some are even convinced that without Republicans and climate deniers blocking extreme measures ( higher taxes), the world would be a climate paradise. While liberalism may not be a mental disease, itis definitely out of touch with reality.

Science ought to involve some healthy skepticism.

Scientists being too sure of their conclusions got us into this mess.

Ideally, they ought to be as skeptical about global warming itself as about the idea that it's somehow causing colder weather, but that's not going to happen.

One has to discern the (est) time periods of:

-- 1930's-1970's, society disregard for water/air quality
-- 1973-1988, the coming ice age
-- 1992 - 2016, global warming
-- 2016 - present, climate change.

The ice age, the global warming predictions did not come about.
For every so-called 'record' event, there were revelation that real record events existed in different times. Example, the 2005 hurricanes of Katrina/Rita were to usher in more years of extremes hurricanes. Yet the following years weather was more mild.
AND the hurricane records of 1933 still stood.

For the early 2000's, in the midst of 'global warming', Europe, Siberia, Canada...experienced record low winter temps in 2003, 2004, 2005....
AND the record high temps of the 1910's still stood.

The term 'global warming' became a punch line for so many jokes...hence the creation of the ultimate catchall term 'climate change'.
