The American Diabetes Association knew before 2006 that low carb dieting fixed diabetes, but chose to never tell anyone, because ‘low carb eating isn’t practical.’ So they just kept pushing high carb eating because that is ‘practical’ and ‘diabetics are going to die early, anyway,’ because drugs can’t stop the ill effects from their dietician-provided, required therapy, high carb diets.
“We want to promote a diet that people can live with long-term,” says Clark, who is vice president of clinical affairs and youth strategies for the ADA. “People who go on very low carbohydrate diets generally aren't able to stick with them for long periods of time.”

I thought diabetes was permanent?.....................
Came here to say; Eat Real Food
Meat, nuts, berries, fruits, veggies.
Always question your doctors and dietitians. These people DO NOT KNOW EVERYTHING and you can know much more than your doctor by simply reading new studies and therapies your doctors never read or purposely ignore until 20 studies come out over three decades to nudge the AMA to finally “approve” of the change.
I post studies that give TANGIBLE HOPE and PRACTICAL THINGS TO DO that your doctors will never tell you about in the office.
What is the “treatment”
This has been known for a long time. Dr Joel Wallach has been talking about it for.....50 years?
Correct the Vanadium and Chromium deficiency and eat sensibly. And it goes away.
Type 2 Diabetes for the most part is a self inflicted disease, and most of the time it can be cured by changing your diet to a High Fat, Moderate Protein and Low Carbs.
Don’t ask your Doctor though, He/She will put you on a whole bunch of Drugs to try and cure it while prolonging your agony and disease.
The sugar lobby is stro-o-ng!
The obvious question... Are higher A1C levels truly indicative of Diabetes?
They’ve determined that I have type 2 Diabetes... Big problem... I am not overweight... I don’t eat sugary foods and frankly... I feel fine, but my Doc put me on Metformin because my A1C levels are high.... Then again, my cholesterol readings are also high and many years ago they put me on Lipitor... Then they sent me for a heart dye test and my arteries (according the heart doc) are as clean as a whistle... His words... Not mine. He told me to not bother with the Lipitor medication... My cholesterol levels increased again and my family doc put me back on Lipitor saying it couldn’t hurt.
The thing is... A lot of these drug companies pay doctors handsomely to push their dope... It’s very useful dope for those who need it... But do we all really need it?
For instance... Metformin was originally created to cure malaria in the early part of the 20th century... It didn’t work very well... So they then sold it as a flu cure... Didn’t work well for that either... Then the A1C test was created and they could measure blood sugar levels and discovered something called ‘Type 2 Diabetes’... It didn’t kill you immediately, but it would over several years... They started using the that old drug Metformin on these patients and they determined that it would lower blood sugar levels... So they finally found a disease that they could use the drug Metformin for, a drug originally created to cure malaria... Go figure.
Having been afflicted with Diabetes type 2 for twelve years I can testify that it is mostly a disease of changing numbers. It is now and has been for at least 12 years defined only by numbers

Low carb/Keto combined with intermittent fasting helps lower A1c number.
I will find it...
read a report that some diabetic meds may increase AC2 expression as a side effect of down-regulating AC1
Think about that.
Why are diabetics prone to SARS? What exactly is the technical cause?
Keto/low carb and IF are definitely working in my favor. I’m currently on day 2 of a 3 day fast for this week and I feel fine. My longest fast has been for 7 days.
It was nice to find a GP who heartily supports keto/low carb and IF. Ultimately, it wouldn’t have mattered what any of my doctors said as I was going to smile, thank them, and do it anyway.

“Low Carb” or “Keto” isn’t a destination they are just methods of transportation as it were, what the issue here is, what is proven to reverse type II Diabetes is shedding the excess fat, and calorie restriction (in one form or another) is the only way to do that.
I managed to lose 60 pounds just over 2 years ago (and keeping it off) and I didn’t (and don’t) particularly pay much attention to carbs. I’m not Diabetic but I don’t want to push my luck. In the vast majority of people, Obesity or being fat is a choice. I’m not going back again, I’m not going to be obese, or even overweight again. But I’m realistic, there is room for some carbohydrate within a reduced calorie intake.
Within the realm of “healthy eating” (defined as a sane number of daily calories based on exertion) I can choose to eat more filling or substantial meals with a good mix of protein or fat, or I can choose high carb foods. My body never fails to inform me this was a poor choice. Over time people will naturally gravitate towards better nutrient mixes if they are serious about losing fat and keeping it off.
In general I agree that everything is being dumbed down across the board, to enable failure or excuse it, to enshrine mediocrity for various reasons, none of them particularly good. “It’s too hard!” is not a prescription for success in any endeavor.
If they could only find a cure for peripheral neuropathy and painful feet. Consulted podiatrists and “neuropathy centers” and other snakeoil salesmen to no avail. My A1/c has been 5.7 for the past 6 months(which puts me in the safe range), yet I am home-bound because of foot pain.Underwent surgery, electrotherapy, injections without any improvement while most procedures and doctor visits are not covered by healthcare. The “neuropathy centers” are a real racket and I advice FReepers to stay away from them.
I think I’ll ping my list on this one - been a while. Thanks for posting!
LOW CARB / KETO PING!!!
Been a while, but the truth is dribbling out...like pulling teeth. Thanks, ConservativeMind!
