I thought diabetes was permanent?...

It is, if you follow your doctor's treatment plan.

“I thought diabetes was permanent?”

Type I diabetes is. It’s the complete lack of insulin production by your body.

Type II is insufficient production of insulin. The most common resolution to it is to typically lose weight. If you’re 5’ 10” 280 lbs with Type II, You lose weight to 210 lbs or so, the diabetes will frequently resolve.(not always, but often) Obesity is usually the primary factor. Cleaning up your diet works wonders too. Type II doesn’t have to be permanent, it can be resolved.

My diabetic insulin dependent husband does Keto and is no longer taking insulin. His endocrinologist released him. He sees our primary care 2x a year for bloodwork and so far after 3 years is doing fine.
